The idea is interesting and, aesthetically, is really well-crafted. But as an adventure, Uncanny Valley's structure it's a bit shallow and, for a game that has to be played multiple times, do too little to invite player to replay it.

Once you’ve learned what you can about the ‘twist’ after a few playthroughs, and the 'aha' realization wears off, there’s little reason to continue playing unless you’re working towards specific achievements or you really want to see every ending possible.

I loved the world of Uncanny Valley and the work that the developers have put into the tone, style and feel of the game. I didn’t like playing the game so much though and at times it felt like a horrible chore, mainly because of those controls.

If you want to rush through Uncanny Valley you won’t get the full experience. One play through is not enough to learn the ins and outs of the town, how to accomplish specific objectives, and what the story is really trying to convey. It’s a unique adventure game that delves into a twisted psyche and tells a twisted, unhinged narrative with simple yet effective art that leaves enough to the imagination to keep some of the horror intact. The only major issue is with the repetitive nature of the game.

Compellingly creepy and narratively stimulating, but poorly served by its puzzles. [April 2017, p.84]

Uncanny Valley has strong presentation and an interesting story to tell but it’s held back by bad execution and cumbersome controls.

Uncanny Valley offers us a good plot and the amazing atmosphere of the survival horror genre, with sound that will introduce us completely into the game. But unfortunately it does not convince with the idea of the different endings, creating a total disaster in the story that is full of uncertainties that we will obligatorily repeat over and over again, leaving behind the good intention that Cowardly Creations had.

I just CAN'T play it. The control system is infuriating and I instantly got angry and frustrated. This is the first time a game immediatly angered me. I also bought on day one as I like to support indy games but this one was not my bag. I give it the four for the effort but that is the best I can offer. Expand

I bought it right away when it came out but I just can't play it. The mood is there, you really feel the ambiance, but walking is too slow, running will tire you in 5 seconds, the controls are awkward to say the least.
I like pixel art, but the font is unreadable without effort and the key is there: playing this game requires effort, it feels like work.
Each play is a short episode that will drag you through the same slow 15 first minutes so that you can see a different ending; and this will happen only because you go out of your way to try something different than what worked last time.. it doesn't feel natural.

Where the developers did good is the atmosphere, through graphics and sound, they created something nice and the intent was good, but it feels like an experiment that failed.
