In a year full of some of the best games we have seen in quite a while, there hasn’t been much on the lackluster side. So, if, you’re like me, with a backlog of games that goes back to the beginning of the year, choose your games to play wisely and put Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the top of your priority list. You won’t be disappointed.

Machine Games and Bethesda surprise us with the second title of Wolfenstein, which is so entertaining that we didn't think it was so necessary. Thanks to the id Tech 6 engine and a development that catches the player, we are facing one of the best shooters of this generation.

The New Colossus never lets you forget who and why you're fighting. Nazi brutality is on full display, from the blown-out, irradiated remains of Manhattan to each of the resistance members, who all carry mental scars if not physical ones. You're never given a chance between cutscenes, missions, and even downtime on the U-boat to lose sight of the Reich's cruelty. Wolfenstein's tense gameplay elevates this further by giving you the power to truly resist--and come out of each battle ready for another fight.

MachineGames raises the bar with a great narrative experience coupled with an highly fulfilling old-school gameplay. An unmissable game for lovers of single player FPS experiences.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus doesn’t care if it should sell its soul to the devil in exchange for more fun, fanservice or squashing Nazis patrols. Games can provide us with all kinds of experiences, but let's not forget that killing nazis will remain always on top.

Wolfenstein II: The New Order is almost great but is held back by a number of issues. A few design choices Machine Games made far too often took me out of the game and frustrated me to no end. For such a great feeling game, the lack of damage indicators to and from enemies made the game feel off far too many times. An outdated health system forced me to play the game differently than I wanted to. Instead of the clear intent at fast paced chaotic action the game does so well, I was too often hiding behind cover, scouring for health packs, and dying in seconds due to frequent difficulty spikes. Even with these issues, I still had an overall positive experience with the game due to strong story beats and chaotic moment to moment action. Wolfenstein II is a game I would recommend to anyone but is a game that may leave you feeling a bit frustrated in the end.

It is so much fun and has a great story. It is not a long story but has much more you can do after the 12 or so hours of main gameplay. It also has an amazing setting of the 1960's if the Nazis won the war. It seems very realistic with a focus on technology. This is such a good game and I recommend it to anyone who likes single player games. Expand

    So- So:
    - the story.. the main goal was nothing unique, but the journey was a enjoyable one.
    - overall gameplay/combat. its fine...serviceable at its best. nothing unique or interesting. gaming 101. fps 101. sometimes I just go commando and rush through the level with dual weapons just to get to the cutscene.

    Cons:
    - No replay value. replay value consists of more combat (backtracking old levels..mostly) , which is the weakest part of the game.

Overall great game with its characters and cutscenes carrying it and standard linear fps experience. It took me 15 hours, but I had no desire to go back whatsoever. I give it an 8. but it is definately closer to a 7 than a 9.. reccomended for people who like a game with great characters, but maybe what for a sale, if you are all about gameplay.

As a Jewish American, the power fantasy of mowing down Nazis in the original Wolfenstein was intoxicating. That same cultural identity is what makes the newer games a depressing slog for me. This game is extremely well made, I just can't say that it's any fun. Expand

Unskipable cutscenes: AUTOMATIC ZERO. Any game that forces me to watch a movie will get the lowest possible rating by me, including this one.
