WRC 9 is one of the best rally games to date. It still is a simcade, but remains true to its formula, giving players a lot of new content with upgrades around every corner and on each course.
WRC 9 continues to give the Dirt series a run for its money. This year saw a safe update to the series, with extra content being the main new feature. If you enjoyed WRC 8, picking up WRC 9 is a no-brainer. If you skipped out on last year’s entry, however, it can be had for a cheaper price these days, and by the time you’ve seen all that game has to offer, WRC 9 will then be an even better deal. This is the off-roading game to play while we await DiRT 5 later this year, when the competition should really get interesting.
Perfection, the pinnacle of virtual motorsport experience. It's arguably not the best in any given category - at the same time the game gave me a plethora unforgettable moments - best experience so far - totally on top of my list above the likes of Dirt Rally 2.0, ACC, iRacing, GT7, FM7, Project Cars 2
Great game, a lot of improvements. Better sound. The gameplay is on point. Nice feeling of car weight and suspension. Great work from Kylpton. Everybody who gives this game a bad rating cleared haven't played the game.
All too often in the world of sports games, the same titles are offered year after year with only a new number slapped to the suffix. WRC 9 is a gratifying exception to this rule. The improvements compared to the past versions might not be big, but they are just in the right places. While the game still has some issues that need to be catered for in the future versions, it offers a great alternative reality to the full rally season with its huge amount of content and quality racing. And now, excuse me, I have the next rally to drive.
With driving that is now on par with the competition, WRC 9 will keep sucking rally fans back in for more. Elements around the core rallying action could still do with some added finesse, but when the basic premise is so solid, those issues fade into the background. At last, Kylotonn has delivered on the promise of authentic driving experience, and for a rallying game, I think that is the single most important element.
WRC 9 is a challenging rally game that celebrates the FIA World Rally Championship’s past and present. The driving mechanics themselves are very well implemented and there’s plenty of modes that’ll keep you busy – but there’s more than a few rough edges that prevent it from being a real champion.
Big improvement over WRC 7. Must have if you have a wheel, alongside Dirt Rally 2, Gran Turismo Sport and Assetto Corsa Competitione. Very usable ffb when all rumble effects turned off. Overall very good settings options (I always turn motion blur off for example. Camera settings also very good). Great sound design. Even in 30fps enjoyable because very stable, but I look forward to PS5 (you get the upgrade for free and it's 60fps over there:)
WRC 9 is just as good as the 8 because it is very close to it. Too much even. This new opus is a simple 8.1 instead of a new episode. If the new rallies give a little breath of fresh air, the others have hardly been touched up. The challenge mode offers something nice but does not really add anything new. The emergence of online clubs has strengthened the eSports side of the game and prepared us for a career as a pilot. The official 2020 cars and drivers are present, as well as a few old WRC cars, but nothing more. It is a shame to see that, like with WRC 7, the developers did not take the time to really improve this latest opus and add real new features to it. On the graphics side, it's quite sad and it lacks realism for a game released at the end of 2020. And then the impossibility of competing in the 2020 season with one of the official pilots presented in the game. This is to take away a large part of interest in buying an officially licensed game… Disappointing but A good rally video game, but lacking in new features.
SummaryThe WRC license is back and even better this year with WRC 9. Take part in the Calendar's 3 new rallies and challenge the community with the customisable league system. Then dive into the skin of a co-driver with the astonishing co-op mode.
