ZOMBI - Announcement Trailer
Aug 21, 2015It is not the prettiest undead game out there. And with the omission of the second screen (even though it would have been possible on Vita or SmartGlass devices) the great atmosphere and immersion suffer, which characterized the WiiU version. But at its core it still is a tense and hard fought fight for survival.
Aug 24, 2015Zombi is a great game that, sadly, suffers from the absence of what many people believed was its greatest flaw: the Wii U Gamepad. Even though the main campaign retains the gameplay basics that made the original game shine, the additional tension and stress derived from the use of the screen controller made the port feel as something incomplete and not unique. Despite this, it’s a title that those who have interest in it or didn't have the chance to play it in the past will enjoy.
Aug 18, 2015At the right price, Zombi is a worthy purchase for some. Unfortunately, some of its technical shortcomings and painfully repetitive sequences kill much of the enjoyment. Not to mention some of the clumsy combat and dated gameplay makes for an experience that is far more tedious than it needs to be.

First of all you don't pay a full game price for it on the XBOX one which is awesome and secondly it's challenging and a bit scary without complicating how simple a formula it is. I didn't find it to be repetitive at all unless you die and have to run somewhere far or complicated to get your stuff again. Make sure you look around and scan everywhere. People are also knocking it for not having figured out you need to HOLD the RT to finish an enemy not just tap it which does the normal attack. Not quite finished the game yet but there's a part in the Nursery which made me jump out of my seat so I'm excited to play it to the end. Well worth a consideration and I'm already looking forward to playing through it again.… Expand

AThe Xbox One's port of ZombiU is a good budget priced title. It's a very unique and tense survival game that delivers some good scares. A standout feature is the permadeath mechanic which makes this a very challenging ride. Unfortunately, the graphics are not very impressive. Regardless, fans of Left 4 Dead and State of Decay should have a blast with this one. Overall, I would rate Zombi with a 7.3 out of 10.… Expand

The environment of the game definitely sets a mood for a Survival horror, unfortunately this is the only aspect that does it's job. Most objectives are just there to make the game longer rather than to build a story. The story itself is confusing and just all over the place until the end and then after that you'll probably need to play a second time to understand it fully. Combat can be a little iffy at first, but easy to use once you mastered the controls. Zombi could have been a great game, if more time was put on a story.… Expand

Just another Zombi Game
Zombi is a First Person Shooter Survival Horror Game with an obvious inspiration from the souls games.
Here you play as a random character out to basically do chores in a thruway world, with throwaway characters in a throwaway story…
This is a chores games set in london, of go from point a to b, collect what you can along the way and try not to die..
You start with an unbreakable melee weapon, and a pistol with 6 bullets…
You then set out to gather whatever from a location given to on the map..
And along the way youll find health pick ups, new weapons and ammo…
And there are zombies all over the place in your way from completing your task…
This game is sortve delivered in the style of a souls game..
Everything feels connected, youll be unlocking shortcuts as you run around the areas collecting key cards and completing tasks…
Youll be unlocking shortcuts for when you die..
Which brings me to this games twist…
Once you die you respawn as a new character… all level progression is gone…. its then up to you to go back to where you died, kill the zombi version of yourself to re collect your materials and go…
But if you die on your way back, you lose everything.. youll be in the middle of the game feeling like a fresh spawn…
Which isn’t all too bad, but the fact you lose every weapon you picked up along the way stings..
It hurts losing your shotgun or crossbow..
It happened to me about an 2 hrs away from this games ending..
The game by the way only takes about 6 hours to complete…
And that’s with being thurough..
Thankfully thuroughness isn’t that difficult as youre given a scanner for lootable items…
The game sounds pretty simple enough, but it can absolutely feel frustrating at times…
This is a survival game in every sense of the word…
You have to be mindful of your ammo and health.. you have a pretty small backpack and weapons take up space.. some youll have to just leave behind so you have that extra health on you…
And pick ups are actually pretty rare.. especially health pick ups..
Enemies hardly ever have anything on them… which again makes this game feel frustrating especially when youre deep into the map and havnt found any shortcuts, and the game wants to throw cheep exploding enemies at you that you don’t realize are explodable until its too late…
it just breaks your heart and makes you want to quit…
And sadly this game feels more stressful than fun and addictive…
The focus is on chores rather than exploration…
The thing that makes souls games so hard to put down is youre dying to see whats around the next corner..
While here in zombie, every corner is the same so that hook just isn’t there…
I did ultimately enjoy my time with zombie.. but those moments of cheapness and feelings of unfun frustration cant be overlooked…
I give Zombi
a 6/10… Expand

It isAs of the writing of this review, I have yet to complete Zombi once. You may ask why that would be, and the answer is a simple one. It is because Zombi is one of the most horrendous, broken, buggy, and downright awful games I have ever played in my life. What makes this game a train wreck that should have stayed a Wii U exclusive, you may ask?
Conceptually, Zombi has quite a lot to work with, and could have been a great game if it was utilized by actual video game developers. You are a survivor during a zombie apocalypse set in London, being aided by the mysterious "Prepper" to continue living. The Prepper entrusts you with a scanning and mapping device to hack CCTV boxes all over the city as to be the Preppers eyes and ears. A great concept that is just utterly wasted.
The graphics in this game are subpar at best, definitely not up to the standard of even most independently developed Xbox One games, or even Xbox 360 games. A lot of the scare factor is sucked right out of environments and enemies that look like a budget title from 2008. The environments are somewhat varied, but are wasted given the scope this game should have encompassed. You're in a zombie filled London, and yet are maneuvering through the same gray, drab buildings and sewers for the majority of the game. The enemies are slightly more varied, all being zombies but most being dressed differently. This gets old incredibly quickly, however, as after an hour of killing the same construction worker and SWAT zombies the game seems to drag horrendously. The facial expressions and appearance of the living human characters is simply laughable, to put it kindly.
So the graphics, enemies, and environments are nothing special. How about the gameplay? Another disaster to report on this end, unfortunately. You get quite a few weapons in the game, but what amounts to very little ammo for them and not nearly enough space to accommodate half of what you're given . Most of the game will consist of you swinging around a bat as you lure zombies into your hit zone, because it's the only thing that seems to work the vast majority of the time. One section of the game, an arena, forces you into gun combat and it is awful and clunky. The guns seem to be an afterthought, as using your bat seems to be the most effective thing.
The biggest point this game makes is that death is permanent, Dark Souls style. If your character is killed, you start back in the safe room and must retrieve your items from your characters corpse. Why does this work in Dark Souls, but not even the least bit in Zombi? In Dark Souls, you have the option to NOT GO BACK! If the area was difficult and you feel like you'll die again attempting to retrieve your items, and therefore lose them forever, you can just simply not go back. In Zombi you are forced to go and retrieve the items necessary for your current mission, but also fight through all the zombies (including your zombified previous character) that you left in that area...Without your weapons or health items. Who thought this was a good idea at all?
Unluckily for you, death will come often, but almost never from a scenario that pits you against too many zombies to handle. I only died due to zombies with gas canisters on their backs, which somehow magically explode if you hit their faces and heads with a melee weapon. This kills you instantly. Very, VERY irritating in a game like this, where death is permanent and environments are dark, even with maximum brightness. The other time death is almost certain is in the aforementioned arena, where you are given a gun and very little ammo against a horde of armored zombies.
The last issue that needs to be addressed about this steamy pile is the bugs. I had mentioned at the beginning of the review that I have yet to complete this game due to the glitches, and it certainly needs to be addressed. If you do the missions in a certain order (Doing the arena before refueling the generator) the game will permanently glitch on you, no longer allowing you to progress. That killed my first playthrough. My 2nd playthrough got me all the way up until the last 10 minutes of the game, where I died while escaping from the Palace (from whacking at a group of zombies, only to find one was strapped with a fuel canister). Thus began my life as a new character (an act which automatically overwrites the games only save file, mind you) and went to retrieve my mission items and finally complete this garbage, only to find that all shortcuts outside the safe house were inaccessible, and taking the long way through the sewers led only to a barricaded door, forcing me to delete yet another save and restart if I were to complete the game. I also have had friends encounter game breaking glitches such as these multiple times, these are not isolated incidents.
