Devs: Should we fix the parry before we ship the game? Naw.

Combat is sluggish, unresponsive, and has broken features like parrying. It's just a bad Dark Souls clone.

If you like dog sh*t, you're really gonna love this game. Imagine dark souls with no rpg elements, no story, no healing, no bonfires, severe input delay, loading times measurable by minutes, no rewarding gameplay, and no fun. The idea of the shells is cool, but they offer either no health/high stamina, or no stamina/high health. There is no leveling system in place, but there are shell upgrades and weapon upgrades that add new abilities. The harden ability is also very cool and useful. However, the game really falls apart as soon as you start. The whole game is a maze. I've never needed a map to play a soulsbourne before. The worst part is that i still have no clue where tf i am going. Add on the fact that there is not even a story, so any vague direction is missing. Even a simple reason why the events of the game are happening does not exist. It is like they added all the creepy dialogue from DS, but forgot that there's also supposed to be a story. Sester Genessa doesn't even seem like someone who is helping me, she just seems like a pretentious **** You are put into a world to kill everything for no reason. The enemies are WAAAAYYY faster than the player. Wearing the skin specifically for speed and stamina, the enemies see the player, stand up, swing, and connect all before the player has moved 2 meters, and that is while sprinting. The player attacks so slow, i can stun an enemy, swing right after, and they'll still hit me 3 times before i even connect. There is apparently a "parry" function, but the player is so slow, you would have to parry before the enemy's attack animation even starts, or it won't work. There is basically 2 healing items in the game. One costs an exorbitant amount of money for a single heal (which is about a quarter of the health bar). The other is a mushroom that you must literally wait for them to grow (which also only heals a quarter of the health bar). bosses are mostly just copied and pasted, with no real variety among regular enemies either. There are basically no checkpoints or fast travel. idc about fast travel, but with the map being so bad, there needs to be checkpoints. This game is more of a rat in a maze simulator than an action game. Expand

Pure garbage. Terrible copy of Souls and bad performance too. Controls are horrendous, graphics are mostly bad. Glad I didn’t buy it.

Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition is a great example of how to revamp a game for the better via the power of the next gen. Even if you didn't buy the game first time around, I can recommend that you "Shell" out for it now.

If it is not free from flaws or free of any bugs or annoying moments, Mortal Shell remains a quite solid choice for fans of the genre, who will have to accept, a small development team obliges, to have a game less dense and deep than those of From Software, but strong enough to be played without displeasure.
