Nobody Saves the World is a humorous romp through a 2D world where the hero is little more than a pale, pantsless shell that players can magically transform into a colorful cast of characters. RPG elements let players customize the experience even further as they rack up a body count of baddies.

After finishing Nobody Saves the World, I went right back to it. There were still dungeons to explore, powers to unlock, secrets to uncover, and a New Game Plus mode to conquer. When a game is this much frictionless fun, it's hard to resist.

Nobody Saves the World is a masterclass in the gameplay perspective. It has a unique and clever way of making the rather overwhelming gameplay mechanics into something easy to understand and extremely fun. While it has a lackluster story, and a weird beginning and ending, the fascinating world succeed in making you forget those things, and keep playing with your knife throwing turtle or your fire breathing horse.

Making your way around Nobody Saves the World‘s map is nothing but a pure joy. This gorgeous, whimsical adventure feels like a more playful A Link to the Past at times – if A Link to the Past had you changing into a slug or a zombie, that is. If you’re a fan of accessible action RPGs and enjoy laying waste to tonnes of enemies, you can’t go wrong here. Once again, Drinkbox Studios has taken an oversaturated genre and turned it into something unique and delightful.

Nobody saves the world is a vast array of fun ideas made game, proving once again the talent of the people at DrinkBox Studios. It's easy to grasp and to understand, but a little on the repetitive and easy side, too. A no-brainer if you have Game Pass.

Despite the huge variety of moves and characters, this disappointing follow-up to Guacamelee is let down by mindless combat and bland dungeon design.

The artI took a chance on downloading this from GamePass and thought "why not give it a try". Well I'm glad I did, I really loved this game. The art style, progression system, map layout, dungeon challenges and most importantly - the combat. Everything felt fluid and responsive in a quick paced style. This game will not be for everyone. If you are looking for a deep story, this isn't the greatest choice for you. But if you're looking for a very fun and addictive dungeon crawler with a bunch of character options, this game is for you. I put 40+ hours maxing everything, getting all achievements and beating it all over again playing in hard mode (which really changed up the combat again). Expand

SOMEBODY SAVED IT AT THE END!

    BEFORE WE BEGIN:
Let's start with the premise that I played the game for everything it has to offer, completing it 100% in Co-op, and also playing the Dlc. In addition, I got the Platinum.

    BEING A NOBODY:
The game starts off by showing its peculiar art design right away. Immediately the player is shown the main mechanics of the game, namely that of being able to switch between different characters with different designs, abilities, and movesets. Also initialized is the story, which hints at the game's sarcastic tone that tends to be a parody version of typical game stories with a hero at the center of the story who must save the world from evil.

    LOSING HIS EYES:
Aesthetically, the game boasts clean graphics with bright colors and high contrast. Being an isometric-view game, of course, everything is based on cartoon graphics, and this is also one of the game's real strengths; the design of enemies and environments is often unique and imaginative. The particle effects of attacks are also well designed and rarely cause chaos on the screen, even in Co-op mode. For dialogues, the developers decided to opt for a visual novel style, where there are characters talking in the foreground and the game world in the background. The only flaw in engagement is within the game menus, which are often, aesthetically, too simple and bare, and often do not give a feeling of fulfillment when accomplishing a certain goal.

    TO THE EAR:
The game's audio section relies pretty much on in-game Ost’s, there being no real voice acting. Here again the developers, or rather the composers, have done a great job, resulting in some really well-structured and catchy music. There is not a moment in which one finds oneself getting fed up with a certain soundtrack, instead, because of the beauty of some of them, one could find himself being enraptured by the beginning of some of them.

    SEARCHING THE FINAL STONE PIECE:
The gameplay of Nobody Saves the World is based, as mentioned above, on the ability to switch between various characters, each with different abilities. Basically, the game is an RPG in which there are various base dungeons and a handful of main dungeons, and in order to unlock the main dungeons, it is necessary to defeat and clean up the smaller ones; there is no shortage of side quests that spice up the game's story, various collectibles, power-ups and mini side dungeons. The gameplay loop is much more than this, however, because not only do characters have a characteristic ability and 3 specific attacks, but there are also elements necessary to break shields that match that element, and each character can equip the attacks of other characters, and 3 extra abilities on top of that. This makes the game a true RPG and allows the player to find himself the character that suits him best and structure him with the skills he likes best. There is also no shortage of account leveling, to upgrade stats, and a rank system for the various characters to unlock skills and attacks.
Finally, Co-op is structured to advance the two players together in the same way, including character level ups. Problems arise at the camera and input level, but I will discuss this later in the review.
A new game plus mode is present, but it does not add much to the game except that the dungeons have random modifiers and are not preset as in the base game.

    ACHIEVEMENTS:
The achievements of nobody saves the world are pretty much tied to 100% completion of the game, so all characters at rank A, all collectibles and all dungeons; it is also rather permissive since you will not need to reach the maximum level nor complete all the quests present except those of the various sects.

    DLC's:
The dlc adds two extra characters, with obviously unique abilities, and a set of 12 challenges to beat. There is not much to comment except that the price justify the content added.

    BUT WHY 8?

    PROS:
The game boasts of many plus points already described, the art direction, the game structure, the well built RPG style, the almost perfect Co-op, the music, a decent storyline and many hours of available gameplay.
In addition, the game soon becomes addictive to the quest and leveling system, and this is certainly a symptom of an excellent game structure.

    CONS:
Cons are almost superfluous if you play it in single player but become burdensome in Co-op. First and foremost, the aesthetic repetitiveness of certain dungeons sometimes leaves something to be desired, and for the first few hours of play we will be faced with the same enemies almost every time. But the biggest problem is in Co-op, where the ability for both players to do anything simultaneously often makes the game nerve-wracking. Several times we found ourselves skipping dialogues because we were both pressing the skip button or finding ourselves stuck outside the camera.
