Riders Republic dropped in at the busiest time of year. There are many games vying for gamers’ attention at the moment, and I think the full price, AAA price tag could cause some people to bail. Overall I’ve had a blast during my time in the Republic. It has an insane amount of content and replayability, and I think most people could easily rack up enough playtime where they felt like they got their money’s worth. There are a few issues, like the awkward trick controls, but none of them get in the way of the pure fun I had while playing this thrilling extreme sports bonanza. Book your tickets, but don’t bother buying round trip because once you get a taste of the Republic you won’t want to leave.

Then there’s just simply the atmosphere. This game is absolutely gorgeous. The levels are based on seven real locations in the Southwestern United States, each with faithfully recreated topography and landmarks. The game is filled with landmarks to find and read flavor text about. It has totally inspired me to visit some of these locations someday, hopefully before they’re gone, whether due to climate change or just the course of nature, as the game heeds on several occasions. You can play the game in Zen mode to explore unperturbed or really get lost traveling slowly from location to location between events and just enjoy the environment ad nauseam. I highly recommend it.

A definite improvement over Steep, thanks to the Mass Races and the new bike discipline, but Ubisoft Annecy has still got a lot of work to do if it wants to break into upper echelons of gaming. It should look to Playground Games and how they craft an elite open-world sports game if they want to reach that next-level, then maybe they too could be mentioned in the same breath as SSX Tricky. Fingers crossed, the potential is definitely there!

Riders Republic is a solid sports game, graphically satisfying and with all the right cards to give you many hours of fun thanks to an accessible control system, many customization options and a wide variety of events. It's not perfect and it will need some updates, but it's undoubtedly the best extreme sports game available today.

Riders Republic has managed to tweak the majority of small gripes that were in place in an already fun beta release and in its final version, given gamers easily the best extreme sports simulator on the market - ironically done by embracing the craziness of the sports themselves and making events increasingly zanier as progression is made. For purists, they will find the type of experience that will link them in memory, back to the seasons of being out there on the trails and slopes (or in the air if anyone has actually tried that mental gliding thing). For the stay-at-home gamer, this really is as close as it feels to being out there with the added enjoyment of the extreme element pushed to its… well, extreme, all without a scraped knee or full reconstructive surgery in sight.

Owing to its precise gameplay and satisfying open-world, Riders Republic has the makings of an extreme sport fan's dream. It just would have been nice if the title's exhausting and obnoxious attitude had been checked at the door.

Riders Republic’s failures in effectively catering for newcomers - despite its excellent range of accessibility features - are clear for me as a newbie. But anyone experienced with this genre will have a bloody fantastic time here, and it's well worth picking up if you’re into it.

I got my copy around the release and I'm still playing the game. The racing is done so well, no matter if you're riding a bike, gliding through a canyon or skiing down a hill. Everything just works smoothly. Lots of great ares for tricks too. You can tell Ubisoft really cares about this game. There's been a lot of new content and surprises during it's first year to keep players invested.

What I also love about the game is, that the world truly feels alive. There's a lot of players cruising around and crashing down hills, and unlike most sports games, this one is more on the light-hearted side. A mass race can be brutally hard, but it's the chaos that makes it fun. When you have 60 players crashing down the same hill, some dressed as giraffes and whatnot, losing the race can't be so serious.

If you haven't tried this game yet, go get it! It's super fun! Toggle on the first person mode and find the steepest hill you can, I promise you RR will deliver a sense of speed like no other game before!

The sense of speed you have when you drive your bike down a hill with multiple people all around you is so awesome. The map is giant but never feels empty. So much to discover and do.

Moving around does not get boring because you can always change up how you move and the natural vistas are beautiful.

Only downside are the dialogues but just ignore those and you will have an amazing time.

Hope this game will get a large community and will get supported for many years with more events, outfits and perhaps even more sports (skateboard for instance). Best purchase I made this year. Highly recommended.

Riders Republic does something interesting with the races. While there are a few multiplayer races and you can team up with friends, if youRiders Republic does something interesting with the races. While there are a few multiplayer races and you can team up with friends, if you are playing alone most races will be against player ghosts. This is so much better than playing against rubber banding AI or AI that is impossibly perfect. In single player you race against player ghosts, the ghosts make mistakes just like you! You will see them speed by then run into a tree or go off a cliff. You will be chasing down 1st place and watch them go wide and miss a check point as you blow by them. It feels like a real multiplayer race!

In free roam you will see literally hundreds of other players ghosts doing all manner of insanity. It makes the world feel populated. The down side is seeing another online player in free roam is rare as the map is absolutely huge!

There is an offline mode called Zen, but it takes away all the elements that make the game’s online mode so much fun. In single player mode there are no races, no player ghosts, no quick travel points and you only have access to starting equipment… which sucks! Offline mode would have been much better if you could use your hard won epic gear which are much faster and maneuver much better.

As far as online races go, I love them. Screaming down a mountain on a bike, skis or snowboard is exhilarating, especially in first person perspective. Doing insane tricks with BMX, mountain bike, skis or snowboard never gets old.

I give the game a 9 for its impressive graphics and adrenaline pumping action!

When I first started playing this game, I really thought I was going to enjoy it. Well, that lasted for about an hour or so. After that itWhen I first started playing this game, I really thought I was going to enjoy it. Well, that lasted for about an hour or so. After that it became one of the most frustrating games I've played in a long time. If you enjoy cheap mechanics that constantly screw you, you are going to love this game! You are going to get bumped so many times in races. A lot of those bumps from the ghost opponents are going to cause you to crash or mess up and have to start from the beginning. By the 20th or 25th time of having to start a race over because you make one tiny mistake or get bumped by the ghost opponents, you are going to want to pull your hair out.

If you aren't frustrated yet, just wait until you've restarted the game for the 15th time because it randomly crashed.

Not frustrated yet from the game crashing or screwing you over in races? Well, just keep playing and I'm sure after you've heard the same song 25 times in a row (it restarts the same song over when you restart a race), you will rather bang your head against a wall than keep putting up with the crap Riders Republic sends your way.

On top of all that, I bought the Ultimate Edition and it still won't give me any of the cosmetics that come with that edition. So Ubisoft again releases another half-baked game and screws their customers. Don't let them screw you too!

I definitely won't be playing this game again until they address all these issues. You probably won't have much fun playing Riders Republic either until they actually finish the game and fix all these issues.
