Serious Sam is back with a new game that is as fun as the previous entries but fails in the technical aspects.

You know exactly what you're getting with a Serious Sam game, and Serious Sam 4 is no different. Issues aside, fans of the series should still have a blast with this one.

Serious Sam 4 is a title that fails to live up to its own madness. With potential for crazy and wacky scenarios, this could have been phenomenal. Sadly, however, it's dull, tiresome, and mundane. It's lacking in most departments and will leave you wanting.

Fans of the series will know exactly what to expect; tons of guns, aliens and terrible one-liners. Like a cult movie with a dedicated following, fans will simply get it while everyone else won’t understand; Serious Sam 4 will most likely fall under this type as well, appealing to longtime fans but new players wondering what the hell is going on. Serious Sam 4 is absolutely outdated in its design and mechanics but can be fun in very short bursts for those times you want to turn off your brain and blast away some aliens.

It is a shame that Serious Sam 4 is not able to live up to the series’ legacy. While the franchise has never been associated with particularly groundbreaking or polished titles it has previously been able to offer enjoyable experiences with its own identity and fun gameplay. Serious Sam 4 is too bogged down by questionable design and poor presentation to manage that, and instead feels like a title quickly thrown together with an overnight script than a cohesive product.

I'm currently playing this game, but I seriously can't play more than one level per sitting, cause again, it's an okay game that controls well, it's just the boring, drawn out levels. Full Review »

If you are reviewing the technicalA lot of reviews I've seen for this game are previous players of the series, expecting a perfect port. If you are reviewing the technical quality of the port, the game lacks; This game has technical issues, for sure. But as a first-time player of the series, this game is ACTUALLY FUN. Yeah the audio gets messed up at times, yes the frame pop-in sucks. Yes, there are better technical showcases for the next-gen console. But if you are into gratuitous destruction with some cheesy humor mixed in, this game is a blast.

I tend to marvel and appreciate, and at time stand bewildered at today's spectacular games. This one, I get to just grip and rip. Expect a Doom Feel, Duke Nukem Humor, early COD Zombies type hordes.

I'd advise against playing this one, even on GamePass. Full Review »
