The Quarry is a fantastic return to form for Supermassive Games. Every character stands out well on their own thanks to the fun and excellent writing. The monsters and villains, while not terrifying, are a very cool take on the Summer Camp Horror stories that we’ve seen time and again up until now. With just a little more refinement on the rough edges, there’s no doubt this game would’ve been a top 10 horror game. Even then, The Quarry is memorable, and I highly suggest you check it out, especially with a group of friends.

This game is such a tribute to a beloved genre that it even contains rules that will help you to survive (if you bother to learn them.) It may not be the cheapest but it sure is an experience to enjoy. Having Jason’s ‘kill, kill, kill’ motif echoing around your head as you play it is not a prerequisite but it sure is fun.

Overall, this game is my new favorite game by Supermassive Games. It’s just as long as Until Dawn and it has even more branching paths in its story. Definitely pick up this game if you’re fan of games like Until Dawn or Dark Pictures Anthology!

The Quarry is undoubtedly the best work yet by Supermassive Games, both in terms of gameplay and of plot ramifications and technical department. An enthralling experience that knows how to keep the fans of the genre happy, even if it suffers from a not so bold plot (especially on the horror side) and the temporary absence of an online multiplayer component. Yet, it's a title that every fan should consider for their collection.

There’s a fairly big chunk of gameplay on offer in The Quarry and it totally deserves a replay in order for you to witness different endings and try to see if you can keep everyone alive - or kill them all.

Supermassive’s The Quarry is a classic channelling of the same 80’s-era slasher/creature-feature appeal that made Until Dawn a success that players will still want to revisit multiple times.

Where the similarly ambitious Until Dawn felt relatively seamless, The Quarry often feels as if it’s bitten off more than it can chew.

The graphics are really good although sometimes textures take a second to load in. Not terrible but I’m playing on Series X and it’s kind of a distraction when you notice it happening. Anyways aside from the good graphics but sometimes delays in loading, this is a fresh take on gaming - for me anyways. I’m kind of tired of FPS and I like how this is more of a choose your own ending book except a movie that you interact with. The reviews are accurate: the acting is really good. You know how I’m some games you can tell that the audio was recorded by the voice actors separately? In this game it sounds like they were all sat in a room together reading off of a script at the same time. Like in other games it really stands out when one character pronounces a certain word one way and then immediately following that the other character uses a different pronunciation. It just breaks the fourth wall when that happens. Or even with a single character, it sounds like they just read lines off a paper, got recorded, and then the game makers stitched together different lines of dialogue at different junctures in the game. I guess I’m thinking of Cyberpunk 2077 in particular when I say this but I’ve noticed it in other games too. I’m playing Deathloop currently and I think it happens there too. It just stands out when the way the character says something doesn’t really fit the vibe of what’s happening in-game. All that is to say that this game *doesn’t* do that and that it feels really flow-y and natural. Looking forward to the thrills to come and replaying for alternative outcomes.

A great video game! Maybe not the first to have this approach, sure. The game is like 90+ out of 100 in terms of technical polishing. I wish the characters could move faster. Holding L1/LB makes them go a *little* faster.

Anyways I only wrote this review to bump up the average so that more people would play it.

It nails the B movie horror vibe well and the characters move from annoying to charming as you play. I will say the gameplay is even more non exsistant than previous ones and you mostly lose characters to glitchy game mechanics that arent explained well.

Removed another point for no rewind feature which makes replaying a real chore to see alternative paths.

These games fill a niche and I enjoy them, but hard to strongly recommend. Lance Henrickson, David Arquette, Grace Zabriskie were all good. If you've played Until Dawn or any Supermassive Dark Anthology games, you know exactly what you are getting here. Its the perfect game for laying on the couch comatose and you can't find a crappy horror movie to watch. Graphics great. Yes the teen counsellors are all annoying, on purpose. I didn't get the agenda/narrative vibes that some negative reviews have suggested. Seemed like a bunch of annoying sexually confused brats... very realistic I thought! Expand

First of all , if you are obsessive with the achievements like I am , do not touch this game. This is the worst ever in game achievementFirst of all , if you are obsessive with the achievements like I am , do not touch this game. This is the worst ever in game achievement system I've seen in my life. To get all achievements , you have to play like 50 hours and maybe 5-6 playthroughs. It is crazy that they push me to play same sh.t again and again and again ...... It doesn't save your collectibles , if you forget one collectible at chapter 2 and at chapter 10 you have to play complete game from the chapter 2 again because when you select chapter 2 and start all collectibles from this point is reset. What the hell is this ??? I paid like 70 euro for this bullsh.t ... Wish never touched this. Expand
