Other baseball games might have a more unique feature or two, and several absolutely have better graphics, but only High Heat delivers such consistently riveting gameplay.

Everything a good sports title should be. We'd love to see online play in 2005, but this is a true diamond. [May 2003, p.51]
  3. Baseball is about the battle between the pitcher and hitter and HH does this extremely well. Also with the wealth of sliders on key areas of gameplay, HH makes for an extremely customizable gaming experience.
  4. HHB does a fantastically thorough job with the gameplay options. Practically every aspect of the game is fully customizable from the human and CPU batting, pitching, fielding abilities to the running and throwing speeds of both the CPU and human players.

It's clear that the good people who made this game are baseball enthusiasts, and that's important. [Apr/May 2003, p.89]
  6. Can't measure up graphically to the competition, and though this is a solid baseball title, it can be a little arcade-like and easy.
  7. In all fairness, this game simply doesn’t measure up to the competition or even the expected level of improvement you should get with a new installment within an established series.

Granted, this game is not a graphics monster, But its not a slouch either. The sound is a tad bit weak, they really could have made the sound more engaging. I havn't played others, but from what I read, there won't be another game that will even be able to come close to this game in realism. Expand

Downloadable rosters is a very nice feature. The menu interface is different, and it has a good fmv introduction that hypes you up. Great game for "true" baseball wanabes. Expand

This is the most realisitc baseball simulation on the market and nothing else currently compares. It is authentic to a tee, which hardcore basball enthusiastis will enjoy. The controls are smooth as can be, with excellent batting, pitching and fielding response. My only gripe is the substandard graphics and audio. While the graphics are easily overlooked, the audio can be quite repetitive, uninspired and especially unenthusiastic. There's just not much excitement going on in the sound department. However, those minor complaints aside, this is the baseball game that baseball gamers will want to get - definitely! Expand

Pretty fun game. only problem i find is that its too easy to run up the score, even off of rookie. also, i don't have the book for the game.

I don't really understand all the love this game gets. The animation and graphics are way below par. The gameplay is functional, but I don't really understand all the love this game gets. The animation and graphics are way below par. The gameplay is functional, but nothing special. I don't like the pitching system at all. It doesn't give you enough freedom. But the batting does seem right. Trying to read pitches is made challenging and fun. I played High Heat after MVP 05, and MLB 2k5, and both those games are way better. Expand
