  7. The storyline is everything you'd expect from a game by Free Radical, as is the look. The gameplay is also very solid, although one of these days someone is going to have to learn how to make some really good enemy AI.
  8. While its engine handles combat well enough, the targeting crosshair was not made for human eyes. It'll lock onto somebody's chest effectively enough, but it's got a sense of humor. You'll often aim at a crate or barrel when you really want to be aiming at the chest of the guy who just stormed into the room.

    Second Sight finds common ground between length, story, style and freshness to deliver a game that won't disappoint. Even though it may be a tad on the easy side, you'll have fun simply by toying around with your abilities and solving some of the puzzles to be had.

Although in pure in gameplay terms it doesn't reach match Psi-Ops' thrilling ambition, favouring old school stealth principles over riotous action, it almost makes up for it by being a far more stylish affair - although the occasional lack of signposting can be irritating on one or two notable occasions.

FRD have managed to combine elements of pretty much every third person action game without it ever feeling contrived or forced, and they've selected all the best bits (stealthy kills, plenty of weapons, good storyline) and discarded those ideas that didn't work in other games (no camera control, steep learning curve).
  12. The fact that you are left trying to finish off each level just to see what happens next as the conspiracy unravels is a testament to the game's producers.
  13. The length of Second Sight is enough to satisfy the casual gamer looking for a great story to indulge themselves in, but after it is beaten once, it really has no reply value at all other than having fun tossing around enemies.

    The storyline progresses in an entertaining manner, to keep the gamer glued to the TV for hours. Despite the short length of the game, which is on average 15 hours, Second Sight packs a lot during that time.
  23. It's got some flaws and it's not very long or replayable--you'll probably finish it in 12 to 15 hours, without much incentive to go back to the beginning--but it's fun while it lasts.

  28. I personally like "Psi Ops" better as it was faster paced, had a more realistic look, and easier to control. Some gamers may like Second Sight for its open ended-ness and better-written dialog.
  29. Ultimately, this game has its merit, as it makes for a decent story and some entertaining psychic powers, but poor gameplay makes for an extremely frustrating game, until you're pretty far along.
  30. It is unfortunate that many of the implemented features aren't as polished as they could have been, and that the enemy AI is so woefully inadequate. Still, its unique blend of stealth action and psychic powers warrants it as at least a rental.
  31. Sadly, the often cumbersome controls and sometimes lackluster execution of its psychic abilities means the excellent narrative has to carry the bulk of the title's weight.
  32. In the end though you get over the gimmicks and realize that this is a fine title to play for ten hours out of a weekend then it is time to move on.

    Taken as an interactive movie it's not so bad. It's engrossing but it's not engaging. I felt as though I were watching a show and not so much a part of it. Definitely a renter.

    I really expected to like this one. the psi powers may be shamelessly lifted from psi ops, but more of a good thing is welcome. the way they I really expected to like this one. the psi powers may be shamelessly lifted from psi ops, but more of a good thing is welcome. the way they implemented the psi powers is this games biggest problem. the exciting powers are used to do mostly unexciting things (open locked doors etc). psi ops does it much better.
