I cannot express how much this movie has changed me. God, I love this movie so much. I am someone who really doesn't like many movies, but this makes me watch it over and over again. Top tier movie which is a tear-jerker. I'll watch is again someday, because I love it just that much.

Where director Yamada excels is in depicting the interior worlds of the two main characters, paying particular attention to details, whether visual or sonic, that seem to place a constant divide between Shoya and Shoko.
Yamada makes a point of contrasting the agonising complexity of high-school life with the clean simplicity of the moments that really count: hushed conversations on a bridge in springtime, a shared roller-coaster ride under empty blue skies.
Viewing the heightened emotion and drama of adolescence with an unjudgemental eye, it’s a reminder that schooldays are always the best.
Uses drawn images to peer into the dark corners of teenage life: bullying, self-loathing, and depression.
It has some interesting visuals, but A Silent Voice demands investment in the redemption of someone who’s impossible to root for.
A Silent Voice is true art. Every scene is crafted beautifully and the overarching story of these characters learning to love themselves is absolutely riveting. The execution of this movie is bold, with very sensitive topics, that needed to be addressed, being addressed. You will go on an emotional rollercoaster of a journey that will leave you enthralled. A Silent voice is one of the most beautifully crafted movies I've ever seen and I will remember it for a long time.

I love films with deeper meanings on top of its purpose to entertain. Growing up, I always loved sentimental, illustrated, and romance genres. A Silent Voice by Naoko Yamada was able to capture all of this. This movie touches the hearts of many targeted audiences, but I believe that those with mental health related conditions would be able to enjoy this movie on a much deeper level. A Silent Voice is truly a cinematic masterpiece. It appeals to individuals within this category because of the empathetic character development, the symbolism, and the lasting emotional impact that this film leaves the audience with. An example of these criterias is the bullying scenes. Bullying affects many age ranges and is an extremely common problem within society. The heartfelt meanings behind every subtle foreshadow is more than just impressive, it makes this film sticks out from the rest; it is phenomenal. I am able to recognize that not everyone enjoys romance, but this movie genuinely grasps onto a little bit of everything. I would like to applaud the people who helped create this beautiful film and I would recommend everyone to give in a little bit of their time to experience this amazing opportunity. - Ann N

Trying to do a redemption story for an unlikeable main character is a difficult task. This is one of the challenges that "A Silent Voice" has to deal with it as our main character, Ishida, bullied a deaf girl when he was younger. However, this film succeeds in this whilst also tackling deep themes such as depression, guilt and bullying. One thing this movie avoids falling into is being overly melodramatic. There is some drama and some romance but they are not the central theme. I appreciated that the film remains focused on the problems that Ishida and the deaf girl, Shoko, are dealing with. There are also side characters ranging from the likeable to the unlikeable but even the unlikeable ones have a sort of redemption arc as well.
The story being told is just so engaging and seeing Ishida and Shoko trying to overcome their issues was just so wonderful. I was almost brought to tears near the end of this film.
This is also thanks to the phenomenal music score and the gorgeous animation.
A Silent Voice is a film that will always remain in my mind whenever I think of anime films. It still baffles me though that Oscar picked "Boss Baby" over this amazing movie. Flipping Boss Baby!!! A Silent Voice is a stunning movie and I highly recommend people give it a watch.

The animation is really pretty, at least visually speaking. The color's uses are really good and the illustrations it self are impressive. About the content: it is a little disappointing. The story seems to touch everything and ends touching nothing. They talk about accessibility with the deficient person, they dont talk on a realistic way about bullying (Once that the protagonist was a bad guy just because he was, without any reason), they dont talk about the negacionism and autoritarism in the schools. So, they justo sell a cute story with so many potencial, but thats it.
