"Alita lays out her empathetic groundwork early and rarely diverges from it. How wonderful to have a hero that always follows through with what she fights for. How wonderful to have a blockbuster that aspires for so much and mostly delivers on those ambitions." ... Read full review

"Like so many expensive fantasies, Alita: Battle Angel feels burdened by dreams of a franchise that may never materialize. But if a series does come to pass, Rodriguez should stick around. However briefly, big-budget filmmaking has synced up with his playground aesthetic." ... Read full review

"Alita: Battle Angel is a film with Imax spectacle and big effects. But for all its scale, it might end up being put on for 13-year-olds as a sleepover entertainment. It doesn’t have the grownup, challenging, complicated ideas of Ghost in the Shell. A vanilla dystopian romance." ... Read full review

Believe me when I say I am hard to impress when I watch a film. This one is an absolute masterpiece. If you're still having doubts, I'll help you out. If you like the genre of science fiction, or if you like anime, or if you like action, then, you HAVE to see this in the theatre. Even if you are new to these genres, this is still an objectively excellent film by the highest of standards. Instant classic, 10/10.

My final thoughts go to the filmmakers:

Make. A. Sequel. And if you DO make a sequel, let me just say, it had BETTER be just as DARK, VIOLENT, and MATURE as the first. Hell, you can make it DARKER and MORE VIOLENT, give it an R rating even. I loved the violence.

If you come out with a sequel that is less dark/violent/mature than the first, I'll be the first person to tear it apart. Don't pull a Pacific Rim Transformers Edition on me, and THANK YOU for making this beautiful, sexy, excellent movie.

Alot of work went into this movie between the teaser trailer and the final release of the film and it shows. For everyone who complains aboutAlot of work went into this movie between the teaser trailer and the final release of the film and it shows. For everyone who complains about Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue one or the De-aging in Disney/Marvel films, you will forget that you are looking at a CG character here. The action is top notch. It's only fall backs are in pacing due to being packed full of world building and a rushed love story. But I feel this is an action film first, so it's a win. Expand

"She now knows who she is, and she’s got a target, and it's still a complete story with a beginning, middle and end," said Rodriguez. Complete"She now knows who she is, and she’s got a target, and it's still a complete story with a beginning, middle and end," said Rodriguez. Complete story? This is a complete joke. Can i please have a movie that doesn't setup for a sequel then flop. Absolutely ridicolous and a complete waste of my time. I'd like my money and the two hours i spent watching this movie back. It is infuriating to keep watching these movies which by no means have an "end". Rodatrded can get as poetic as he wants with this BS but there is NO end NO sanctification for the watcher. A complete money grab to spend 2 hours admiring CGI. "grossing a respectable $404.9 million worldwide, not enough to guarantee a sequel". Not only did this movie take 20 years to make but the next one isn't even likely to happen. That's all movies are nowadays, lets end with some massive cliff hanger never really getting to the end leaving the audience with complete blue balls hating their damn lifes so they come onto metacritic in the hope these idiots take some advice. Stop wasting out da*n time watching this crap just to be left with NOTHING. Yeah she just watches her boyfriend die then joins the "roller ball" league of whatever. Brilliant absolutely brilliant. I hope you enjoy your money because that's all your getting from this. Nobody is impressed and the people rating this positive are simply here for the pretty colors. Simply a waste of time. DO not watch this movie if you are finally trying to find a show with an acutally ending. AND NO rodtard, theres NO ENDING. nothing not a single bit. This should be the first episode of a series. Ridicolous and neither of you should call yourself directors, because you dont give a flying about the watching experience and just want to see the $$$ signs roll in. Well congrats take your 400million and shove it. Expand
