The beauty of Kurt Warner’s story is that it’s so unlikely it’s nearly impervious to clichés. The strength of American Underdog, Andrew and Jon Erwin’s film about Warner’s life in football and with his wife, Brenda, is that they realize this and let the story speak for itself. Read full review

Levi has a smirking quality to him that sometimes reads as if he can’t believe he’s starring in this crap. He is credible as a clean-cut, all-American boy, however, and he and Paquin work as an onscreen couple. In fact, some of their banter is kind of cute. The supporting cast has its charms as well. A timely movie about keeping hope alive during hard times. Football was just the frosting on top - action sequences were some of the best I've seen and made me feel like I was right there. I am also pretty critical about films, and this is one of the very rare times I couldn't find much toA timely movie about keeping hope alive during hard times. Really enjoyed this movie! Twice as good as I thought it would be. It wasn't non-stop football - story was also about the times in between football opportunities (namely his relationship with Brenda). I wiped tears away more than once. Also a few good humorous moments enjoyed theater-wide.Really enjoyed this movie! Twice as good as I thought it would be. A very warmhearted story of a devoted family man who was able to follow his passion and achieve his dream. Ignore all the nonsense about this was some hidden religious movie. It's a true portrayal of Kurt's actual life and the way he chose to live it. Everybody loves a good underdog story. THUMBS UP

It’s a great story to make into a movie. The acting is great. The problem with the movie, though, is that there is more emphasis on the romance than on football, which disappointed me. It felt rushed at the end when they showed lots of the week 1 game but only about 2 minutes of the super bowl.

They took a good story and made a cringe-worthy movie full of cliches, traditional gender roles, and utterly fake characters, which is ironic considering it based on a true story. Perhaps worst of all is not a single curse word. Football players don't talk trash at all. "Go get 'em, Tiger" is the kind of dialog throughout this movie.… Expand
