The previous Snyder zombie Dawn of the Dead is one my favorites of the genre right alongside Train from Busan. And while it does not fall totally flat is a far cry from the former.

>The Good: Decent production values, plenty of zombie killing, decent if wasted cast, if taken as pure no thinking popcorn movie it entertains, zombie tiger and Its Vegas, baby!

>The Bad: Poor pacing overall, feels like a haunted house in zombieland and Snyder can and has done a better job directing before, the casting is textbook diversity woke casting. No zombie Sinatra or Elvis. >The Ugly: Plotholes, so many the Pacific Fleet could drive across it with room to spare, it fails to keep minimal inner consistence too often and ham fisted politics, Sean Spicer, the scummy guard blackmailing and raping potentially zombie infected women and the pretty young woman rock groupie coyote are more unbelievable than the zombies, with such a lazy job of containment it's a wonder only Vegas is overrun with zombies. >Verdict: Its passable zombie fun, but don't expect too much like me.

But the film doesn't really hit the right notes and bounces between "fun zombie" slaughter and "dramatic humanc slaughter". The characters don't get enough chemistry together and aren't the focus of the movie. Then Main character is very bland and so is his plot line. And the tone of the movie is all over the place. And all that packed into 140 minutes feels like a lot of wasted time. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Excellent zombie movie with a tasteless predictable ending.

From start to about half of the movie is just simply excellent, fun, gory and violent it has all you want to see from a zombie movie. Sadly it is just stupidly cliche with a part in which the bad guy (you literally know who he is right after he's introduced) attempts to Kill a latino girl who's John wick with a vagina (literally), she somehow survives just to be killed shortly afterwards in front of her team but still having all the time in the world to scream to them advising who the traitor is, not only that, the guys could've totally saved her by shooting a barrage of bullets (what a stupid scene). Then there's the failed hero daughter who is just a blatant imbecile who condemns the group because she needs to save her friend, everybody dies and finally the second survivor becomes a zombie leaving the perfect cliffhanger for another excellent yet mediocre 2nd flick.

This week we have attacking us an Army of the Dead. This solid ensemble cast has us following a zombie outbreak in ye olde Las Vegas. Led by a group of mercenaries, they are up to take the ultimate gamble by venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted. I know what you're thinking, "Zombies, Vegas, and a heist, what more could I ask for?" Well, let's see what Army of the Dead has for us.

I'll put it like this - if I'm going to be a zombie, I'll want to be a zombie like this alpha beast here. Forget any plot, the heist, action and violence is enough to watch this movie. I mean it's violent and bloody like you'd expect from any zombie flick, but it's also got the athletic ability of the WWE and parkour. On that front, it's just entertaining to say the least. Which reminds me, someone really should pitch a John Wick version with zombies. You're welcome for the idea, Keanu.

Quiet as it's kept, this is not an original idea at all. I do like the mix of The A-Team, Ocean's Eleven, World War Z, I Am Legend and Extraction put together. It's basically Extraction with zombies. Yeah, I said it, Zack Snyder! You basically just ripped off every movie in writing this flick. Speaking of writing, Dave Bautista has proven that he is a comedic asset and yet this movie lacks any comic relief. In fact, the director portrayed Bautista's character as strong and caring, but BORING. I mean I really think they missed out with Bautista's talent comedically, now athletically they made him look like a freaking animal! Other than that, some characters try to give us some levity, but it felt like the movie was stuck between being serious and a joke. It's either pick one like Shawn of the Dead or be more serious like World War Z and spread out the light moments to lighten the heaviness. It seems like Snyder didn't really know what he was going for with this. I'm not trying t to drive this point home but Omari Hardwick has some range in both comedy and drama, and I feel his character was lifeless until it was too late to save the movie. The zombies had more intrigue than most of the live main characters. While Snyder tried to make the storyline cute and nice and all, it was ultimately secondary to the action.

Long story short, I have to get to Las Vegas again before this movie really happens. Army of the Dead has all the typical zombie behavior with a little extra killing and brutality. It's way too long and they didn't really use the cast to the best of their abilities, but the movie provides some solid weekend entertainment. If you like zombie movies, action flicks and tons of heads being shot, check out this bowl of popcorn Netflix joint.

This is Army Of Dead, made for the Audience of the Dead..
This movie starts of good until about almost halfway in when it starts to stumble until it falls flat on its face.
The Zombies here are plain stupid. They have intelligence, and are apparently fertile.. LOL.

Otherwise mediocre performances by everyone, and a dire score containing alternative cover versions of well known songs.
Movie could have been cut short if Snyder could please leave the Slow Motion button alone.

+1 for a few gory scenes..

Decent for a Sunday popcorn flick but nothing else.

On another note, I remember a not too distant past when people cried out about critical reviews being purchased by studios or critics allowing politics to inflate reception of certain films. Yet now, I can't help but think these same people are destroying the integrity of user reviews. Sure, everyone has a right to their opinion and everyone has slightly different taste in movies. However, I feel pretty safe to say that this film does not deserve a 7.6/10 average. Due to the small number of reviews, I decided to do a little data collection. Of the 36 positive reviews, 17 scored this film a 9 or 10 out of 10 AND left a review. Of those 17, six have only ever reviewed this film. Another five have only reviewed this film and one or both versions of the Justice League (when both, the reviewers gave "Whedon" a 0 or 1 out of 10 then the Snyder cut a 9 or 10 out of 10). So, I think it can safely be assumed that roughly 65% of the written user reviews are Snyder's fans who are still salty about WB moving on from the Snyderverse. To go further, if you apply that percentage to the count of 36 positive ratings and you get about 23 reviews that are likely overinflated by Snyder Fans, bringing positive reviews down to 13. This seems far more accurate to me (13 positive, 8 mixed, and 6 negative reviews), probably bringing the user score down to around 5.8-6.3 range. I think that's a much realistic score if I were to request random people watch this film and ask for their review after the credits roll.

I think the time has come to accept that Zack Snyder is basically another Michael Bay
Only more visually aesthetic, and with a legion of fans that is 1000% more toxic.

Army of the Dead is his return to the zombie genre, but with Dawn of the Dead being his debut and also a remake, perhaps he wasn't allowed to explore as he would've liked, but now with a loose budget, and total creative freedom, Snyder finds that measure is not his thing, and frankly it's not like I have a problem with it, but the lack of a concise style has always plagued him, and this movie is no exception. Army of the Dead is pure gore entertainment, with some comedy details. There's no more.
It has a few emotional attempts, especially in its final part, but these are unsuccessful and mostly problematic.

If we're already involved in the vortex of destruction, carnage and shootings, putting sensitivity affects your film, since, he didn't build something in that tonality in the first part, so it fails to makes sense, and fails to be deep or powerful.
It's not much, but it does affect the tone in a bad way, because I honestly never gave a damn about any of the characters involved.
And that's a writing issue. Action is the order of the day, although it's nothing special.
Let's be honest, this genre in that style has almost nothing to contribute anymore, and Snyder knows it, so he tries to impress you with the scale. It's a great movie for Netflix, and I think it will pay off the expected dividends. After all, this is the kind of large-scale movie that many of its subscribers want. Especially considering the big titles its biggest competitors will release in the remainder of the year.

I do not deny that Army of the Dead is a basic film to entertain, but it will not create any subsequent impact, and therein lies everything you have to know about it.
This of course, beyond what it will provide you in its two and a half hours of length. The real challenge for Snyder after this would be to make a film that is more practical, and above all subtle.

TL;DR - IF Snyder can only step away from his need to try hard at making thoughtful piece of art every single time, I am confident that he can grow farther than just that director who can shoot action well. Army of the dead is the usualTL;DR - IF Snyder can only step away from his need to try hard at making thoughtful piece of art every single time, I am confident that he can grow farther than just that director who can shoot action well. Army of the dead is the usual Snyder trying to flip the book on you but fails in the execution making it an empty, unsatisfying and lengthy experience.

The Good
Snyder's style of film-making is more often then not always based around cinematography and shot composition. This also always translates into a visually interesting movie with a unique identity in it's look.
However, he focuses a little too much on this, usually keeping the story simple works well but AOTD story has quite a few sub plots, twists and turns and unexpected outcomes. This may be a positive point for a lot of viewers as this is undoubtedly snyder firing on all cylinders but this does not always translate well.

Bautista caught my attention in the short but great role of the protein farming replicant in Blade Runner 2049, he really made that whole scene work with him showing a great range. He is probably the best part of the movie slowly followed by the rag tag characters who had interesting personalities but sadly it's Snyder any character writing is near pointless he manages to actively make you not care about decently interesting characters.

The gore was fun, mixing CGI and practical and the the whole organized/alpha zombies part of the lore was a fun addition to feature-film zombie lore.

The Bad
This film is such a bag of cliches one after another that you really start feeling the length of this movie. From the trailers it feels like Snyder finally got the point that he makes good action romps that need not take themselves seriously.
I went in expecting the same but I got an average main plot with too many under average sub-plots; held up together with a gigantic bag of cliches, all packaged with great cinematography and shot composition.

This movie bored the hell out of me, I saw every single twist and turn from miles away and hopefully Snyder intentionally made it so obvious. Because if he really intended to flip the script in earnest he really failed, even the nihilistic angle to it seems half @ssed.

Snyder is so hell bent on trying too hard to make a layered masterpiece but focuses on all the wrong things, takes all the wrong decisions with character progression and ends up making movies that are usually unsatisfying, tedious and exhausting to get through. He tries so seriously to make this masterpiece painting but every single decision ends up being generic, forced and thoughtless.

All in all if you are a zombie fan you will get something out of this maybe, rather you catch Alive or Train to Busan for more satisfyingly bleak zombie apocalypse settings.

If you are not a zombie fan but an action junkie as well you may find that the action in the movie is also scarce and generic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Seeing a hierarchical kingdom of zombies is actually kinda refreshing. We have the Shamblers, who are derived from the typical zombies of the late 60s and the 70s, only slightly more evolved and a tad smarter. We've also got the Alphas, who are far more superior to the Shamblers: extremely agile, relatively fast and even capable of showing emotions. Their leader, Zeus, and the one who likely has turned them all into zombies, is quite intelligent and strong. Pretty much a human hadn't been for his gruesome look and his growling and screeching. He's even got himself a queen. The problem is, there's no proper explanation why they retain such human traits, with the Alphas acting and displaying emotions and feelings like humans to the point they come across as zombie imitators. Even worse, that left the hierarchical structure unexplored and unsatisfyingly vague and muddled. That said, I wouldn't hesitate looking past these inadequacies resulted from such half-baked world building so long as they would be offset by the galore of bloody fun expected from an action-packed zombie flick. Sadly, I can't say the movie fully delivered on that either, as the entertainment value is heavily undercut by a plethora of issues including clunky dialogue, one-note characters that are either mere stereotypes or unabashedly ripped off of other action movie characters — most notably from Aliens — tonal inconsistency, overly-dramatic moments and, worst of all, a total failure in embracing all of these shortcomings openly in an act of self-awareness of sorts. For starters, the attempts at comedy are awfully bad, with all the jokes falling flat and some of them are just plain cringe-worthy. Ludwig Dieter, the German safecracker who's supposed to be the comic relief character, is unbearably annoying and dumb. The same can be said about some frequent, albeit unsubstantial and tentative, tongue-in-cheek allusions to politics. Needless to say, all the concerns mentioned above have come to the surface and become impossible to ignore. The emotional scenes Scott (David Bautista) share with his daughter Kate are both repetitive and devoid of the slightest dramatic impact, mainly because the plotline revolves around their tumultuous relationship is woefully underdeveloped. Although the movie had its fair amount of time to provide necessary background for its main characters, the bulk of the first act is diminished by poor editing, sluggish tone and unfocused narrative. As an actioner, Army of the Dead is, in fact, quite generic and derivative despite its desperate attempts to conceal that with its skin-deep contrivance, buckets of blood and gore and no skimping on slow-motion moments you'd expect from Zack Snyder. No action scene is memorable or even intriguing enough. Clocking in at nearly two and a half hours, the movie also feels strangely limited in scope, which is not only unusual from Zack Snyder but also at odds with the epic it lends itself to be. That, along with having a kind of a pattern when it comes to switching between humour, action and drama, stifled the tension the perilous zombie territory could've yielded in spades. The fact I dozed off midway through is enough to prove how tedious the end result turned out to be. Even the songs in its endless soundtrack playing rather abruptly didn't help galvanizing the ponderous second act. Honestly, however, the movie picks up in its third act, which is basically one elongated action sequence with the climactic scene being genuinely gripping. Dave Bautista's performance is one of the few redeeming factors here, with some schmaltzy emotional scenes he single-handedly rendered them watchable. Still, Army of the Dead is a predictable, ridiculously overlong zombie heist movie that tried so hard to be an epic, brainless gorefest but ended up being nothing but a borefest. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie starts well. Mid way through it introduces so-called smart zombies which never works well in movies. The vault guy has no special tools, but I can overlook that I suppose. Not sure why the Japanese guy who owned the building didn't give them the combination. Oh well. It's not a bad watch, but I found myself hoping for the end to come sooner. I'm always desperate to watch a zombie flick. The zombies weren't really characters in the movie. Expand

The opening prologue was not impressive in my opinion, choppily edited scenes with weirdly large fonted credits that take up the whole screen to where you cannot see anything behind them. I am also very disappointed that Snyder fired comedian Chris D’elia from the film over matters that have become very overblown, a young woman came out a couple months ago and claimed a sexual assault happened nearly a decade ago with no evidence. Another anonymous woman claimed that D’elia had access to pornographic images of minors, again with no evidence. D’elia has since been exonerated in court and beat all these false claims but that matters little to Snyder who appears to be more into virtue signaling than making entertainment, especially since his ill advised endorsement of Joe Biden. D’elia’s replacement, Tig Notaro, a short 50 year old lesbian woman who were expected to believe is a grizzled chopper pilot is absolutely dreadful. All her scenes were filmed in front of a green screen and you can definitely tell, with dialogue that was obviously written with another actor in mind. Other than Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) as the leader of the mercs after the vault and Hiroyuki Sonata (Mortal Kombat) as the tycoon who hires him and his team, the film is horribly miscast. Despite working on the ensemble Justice League, there are really no notable or even known actors in the film. With a story that requires an Expendables level cast, Snyder instead casts short and skinny women to fill out a team of military trained mercenaries. Asking me to suspend my disbelief for mutant zombies is one thing, expecting me to believe that a 5 foot nothing 120 pound woman is as reliable in a combat situation as a 6 foot 200+ pound man is just ridiculous and Snyder should know better. Dave Bautista leads a team into a zombie-infested Las Vegas to recover $200 million. To add to the pressure, they only have a few hours til the city is nuked plus they encounter a newer, smarter horde of zombies (in typical Vegas style all of the male creatures are ripped). While the potential for a wild ride is obvious, it misses on most every turn. The dialogue is pedestrian and the plotting even worse. There are a few minor moments of thrills (esp. the tiger attack), but The Walking Dead has mounted many more clever undead attacks. There’s too much earnest dialogue and no humor to offset it (other than Matthias Schweighöfer as the geeky safe cracker, who isn’t even that special). The tired tropes and unoriginal encounters don’t make up for the lack of imagination or excitement. Expand

So naturally when I heard Zack Snyder was making a kind of, sort of, but not really follow-up to his excellent directorial debut (2004's Dawn of the Dead) I was intrigued. After all, who better to reanimate the corpse of what was once everybody's favorite brand of horror than the man responsible for what is likely the only good remake of an entry in Romero's defining trilogy and easily one of the best zombie flicks of all time? Unfortunately, Army of the Dead is not the resurrection agent I was looking for, offering up some decent brain splattering action, but little else to get excited about.

To be fair, when it's being a straight zombie movie it's actually pretty good. The gore is delightfully over-the-top, the heist premise is legitimately kind of cool, and it even provides some nice twists on these classic monsters. The concept of "smart zombies" is one I've never been able to get behind before, as even George Romero himself couldn't make the higher-functioning undead come off as anything more than just plain goofy when he tried his hand at it back in 2005 with Land of the Dead. Snyder's attempt at giving these rotting creatures some intelligence however, shockingly makes them a bit more menacing and leads to a few unique and inventive scenarios before he inevitably takes things too far. The problem? It takes roughly an hour to get to any of this stuff.

The first half of Army is bogged down with needlessly convoluted exposition and introductions to characters we are never able to care about (except Dieter) because they are either underdeveloped, get next to no screentime, or are flat out unlikeable. Then there's the final act where Snyder straight up jumps the shark in a myriad of ways, making it clear he doesn't know how things like, for example, the aftermath of a nuclear strike work. Or maybe he does and that was a part where I was supposed to turn my brain off and simply enjoy the ride. It's never clear just how seriously Snyder wants us to take all of this due to the weird amalgam of tones on display. There are elements of B-movie cheese and absurdity juxtaposed with solemn character drama and harsh acts meant to convey socio-political messages. Like Batman v Superman and the director's other more grand projects, it's a mess of ideas that never fully come together in the most satisfying of ways. Only this time imbued with the exuberance of 12 year old rather than the grimdark edginess of a moody teen found in his superhero works.

If you just want to see decaying heads explode in a mess of blood and brains, Army can certainly provide that in a mostly entertaining fashion. However, despite Snyder's knack for creating fun action sequences the faults with things like the writing, tone, and maybe even the vision itself keep the film from being anything more than a watchable letdown. I've certainly killed two-and-a-half hours in worse ways before, but I've still been left with a craving for a better zombie movie. One with the potential to revive the infected hordes and our passion for them once again.

Though with way more gore than either combined, this movie reminded me of “Ghosts of Mars” and “I Am Legend.” For me that’s not a bad thing. The plot is pretty straightforward and there are many elements that I like and that work well and to the movie’s favor. I really loved the opening and how it was used as a way to introduce the characters. It might have been the best use of slow motion that Snyder has ever implemented...and I truly hate nearly every bit of slow motion in his movies. I won’t spoil them, but there were a few somewhat fresh ideas on the zombie genre here too and I really enjoyed those as well. I think the setting was a great choice and the special effects are really good for the most part. There are a few animal sequences that could have been better, but they didn't take me out of my low level suspension of disbelief. While I didn’t love the very end of the movie I think that Netflix has plans making this a franchise and that could be really fun as they explore more of the mysteries they set up here. If you like action horror then Army of the Dead with definitely fit the bill for its runtime.

The opening montage scene showing vegas becoming infected was phenomenal and could've been a movie itself. There is also a cool John Wick style zombie shootout scene that was awesome. Near the end where it starts to live up to the title of "Army of the Dead" was one chaotic but fun zombie action sequence. I also like the soundtrack by Junkie XL even though there isn't a memorable soundtrack such as with the DCEU stuff. For the most part, the soundtrack elevates the scene and there is also pop music that actually works well in the movie.

I also really liked Dave Bautista as the main lead. Dave gives a pretty strong performance and shows that he can give emotive acting if need be. In terms of characters, there were three I liked which were Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer) and Marianne Peters (Tig Notaro). I liked how Vanderohe was this badass zombie slayer while Ludwig was skilled in safe cracking but knew nothing when it came to zombies. The growing relationship between them is one of the best parts of the movie. I also like Marianne's wisecracking and sarcastic personality which was charming despite her small screen time. I also got to appreciate how they green-screened Tig to replace Chris D'Elia, who was accused of sexual misconduct, into the movie as it still feels natural. Although, the green screen can feel pretty obvious at times. Unfortunately, I could give zero care for the other characters. Everyone else is either so forgettable, dies too early or is unlikeable. Zack seems to kill off characters for shock value when the character themselves are becoming interesting which is a shame. There are also way too many characters in my opinion and I honestly feel like some of the characters just didn't need to be in the movie. I also have mixed feelings about the cinematography which is done by Zack Snyder, the director, himself. The cinematography isn't awful or anything but it certainly isn't as good as Zack's previous movies which are clear as he didn't hire a cinematographer and did it himself. It's just very dull to look at. There are also a lot of shots where it is blurry and pixelated which is just very ugly to look at.

The biggest problem with Army of the Dead is the writing which is also done by Zack Snyder. Zack had a unique idea with the zombie heist idea but he then ruins it by adding a bunch of convoluted zombie stuff and a dumb plotline with Scott (Dave Bautista) daughter Kate. Kate joins because a stupid mother went into a zombie-filled Las Vegas and she is going to find her. What annoys me is that there is no reason for Kate to be a part of the heist which is made worst as her character is annoying. Zack also seems to even forget about the mother as well which makes this plotline seem even more irrelevant. There is also a plotline with a spy that also amounts to nothing by the end of the movie. There is also some dumb plotline with the Alpha zombie and some baby thing which was also very pointless. Army of the Dead is 2 hours 28 minutes which is very noticeable as the pacing slows down a lot. They could easily cut it down by 30 minutes and the movie remains the same. I don't mind dumb movies and a movie can be so dumb that it becomes good. However, Army of the Dead is so dumb to the point that the movie loses enjoyment. Why is it the government can allow a group to fly out of Vegas but not fly into Vegas? Why is there a line about zombies hibernating but wakes when it rains if that is never going to come into play? If the vault is owned by Tanaka, the big boss who wants the heist, why does he not just give them the code? If Tanaka wanted the zombie blood then why not just have the heist be about getting the zombie blood instead of the bloody vault? Why does a character who never killed zombies ever, able to John Wick all the zombies? Why does the character who gets betrayed not mention the person who betrayed them? Why does no one help save the person who is only surrounded by 5 zombies and instead just stare at them? Why do the characters talk about their suspicion of this person being a spy but never bring it up again? Why is it with a Nuke incoming that the characters stop and stare at each other a lot? Why do they not just use dead bodies to activate traps instead of an alive zombie? Why is a dead zombie hand able to attract a zombie? Why do some zombies hibernate but some don't? How is a zombie horse able to catch up to a helicopter? Why do some people turn into zombies in a matter of minutes but someone else can takes hours? WHY ARE THERE ROBOT ZOMBIES? Why does Zack not understand how nuke works? Overall, Army of the Dead could've been a fun, exciting zombie and heist movie but fails to deliver in both. The movie had a lot of potentials but it is ruined by Zack's terrible writing skills. If you want some fun zombie action then there is that but don't expect much more.

Literally everything in this film is an homage to something. It's a heist film set in a zombie film, but that's just the beginning. The way the cast is recruited is only slightly less of a heist film parody than the heist episode of Rick and Morty. Every beat of the film happens right when you expect it to, which could mean it's predicable but that also reinforces how much it depends on the plethora of homages to previous films. If you think this film takes itself too seriously, you haven't noticed that all of the zombies are dancing in all of the zombie scenes, in some cases like the zombies in Thriller. In one scene, the alpha zombie approaches a pool with zombies on both sides and it looks like it could be a group performance on World of Dance.

All in all, it's not a great film, but if you take it as wholly tongue-in-cheek, it can be a real fun time. And if you turn it into a game to spot all of the references, you're in for a challenge, too.

There really isn't anything terrible that this film does but there isn't anything great either besides Dave Bautista's performance which I was really surprised it. Bautista made his very thin character much more enjoyable than all the others and I'm excited that he's trying to take on more dramatic roles now. All of the other performances are perfectly fine however I found the German character to be very annoying sometimes. The script isn't great but it's not bad either. All of the moral issues about free thinking and other species is incredibly on the nose and not subtle in any way, shape or form. The dialogue feels very wonky sometimes but it's better than Batman v Superman's dialogue. The cinematography is good at points but Snyder does not know how to use a tripod. It works pretty well for the action actually but not for dialogue scenes. Some of the shots are honestly beautiful but the shaky cam diminishes it. The story is passable but incredibly generic which is frustrating because this idea is fun but I wish they had done more with it. However, the action is pretty fun. It doesn't feel generic and is just a ton of fun. This is where the shaky cam works well. The visual effects at points are really bad especially towards the end with a helicopter flying. Another issue I had was the runtime and length of scenes. One example being the prologue. It's WAY too long. It gets what it needs to get done but keeps on going when it probably shouldn't plus the 2 and a half hour runtime is not warranted at all. 30 minutes of this movie is just bad jokes and really boring exposition which could either be cut out or done better to make the film more enjoyable. If you like Snyder or zombie movies then you might enjoy this but you can pass on it. Expand

The story was good but execution was weak. Everytime the movie gains some momentum, it is killed again with a long drawn out scene. Movie could have been 1 hour short, it was stretched. At one time, you may lose patience.

Overall, this movie had a lot of potential but due to above mentioned flaws this movie doesn't provide much.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. snyder continues to fall into the same thing, in his own mistakes, very rare photography, very unexplored characters, situations very misrewhere.

the scenes that should give you sadness give you laughter or give you a lot of cringe for how poorly implemented they are, an interesting story, with very interesting zombies, with themes of multiverse paradoxes that will be very interesting to see in the future, the effects of cgi are horrendous in some parts, very poorly developed characters, the only good characters are those of Dave Bautista , Vanderohe, dietter, lily and guzman, are impeccable, but the rest are not, their deaths mean nothing to you because they never have a clear development.

this proves once again that his first film, is his best work next to the snyder cut, just a shame this movie, it's pigeon but too forgettable.

Pros: Interesting Story, Dave Bautista and Strauss

Bad: Very failed photography, horrible cgi (worse than the cgi of episode 9 of the 7 season of The Walking Dead), horrible characters, not development good, very slow in some parts. a 5/10, interesting but failed

A huge step down in quality in my opinion. I'm not one of those people who can shut their brains off and disregard the lack of logic in a film. Firstly, the positives: 1) Great world building, for e.g. aliens, time loop & robot zombies 2) One of the best opening credit scenes in cinema (Zack has mastered the art of opening credit scenes) 3) Dave Bautista is a really good actor (he surprised me) 4) Great kills, visuals & CGI 5) Zombie tiger. Now, the negatives: 1) Weak script 2) Kate's character was pointless in this film (used as a plot convenience) 3) Why would Chambers believe others went through that small path? Dave's character would never fit in that gap 4) When Chambers breaks through the glass, no one helps her, when she could have gotten away and warned them about Martin. 5) Why did the team need a safecracker, when Tanaka could have given them the code? 6) I have no problems with long movies, loved Watchmen (directors cut), BVS (UE), Zack Snyder's Justice League & Man of Steel. However, Army of the Dead was 30 minutes too long 7) I wanted to see more zombie animals 8) Why would Martin and Tanaka want to pull of a heist, if all they wanted was the zombie head? 9) The romantic plot between Scott & Maria was really random before her death 10) Both Kate & Geeta's characters were pointless (including the refugee area sub plot) 11) The dream lense aesthetic for this film is not my cup of tea 12) A big step down from Dawn of the Dead (Script Wise) Expand

Nothing special about this one, a good filler if you have nothing to do. A bit too long though.

A bit of fun but mostly garbage, also pretty much a bad remake of Aliens with zombies and a different setting. I watched this and Godzilla vs Kong. Both were terrible, what a disappointing weekend.

My advice, cancel your Netflix because this

My advice, cancel your Netflix because this movie made me want to. Then get a bluray of Aliens, a fat pizza and a few bevs and the crew round. You will have a cracking time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Did not enjoy this movie. Charcters got killed to fast or got so much plot armor it hurts. Would be better if when they were escaping was the movie instead of this. They broke the rules that they made. Like it takes ten seconds to become a zombie. But at the end the dues survives for like 5 minutes even after being bit. The only thing carrying this movie for me is the setting. Zombies in Vegas cool cool. Zombie animals cool im down with that. It has some novel concepts but it falls for every Troup in the book. I want my 2 hours and 30 minutes of my life I spent watching this back Expand

Army of the Dead was entertaining, though filled with plot holes and inconsistencies. Dave Bautista unexpectedly did a good job "acting" his character, the soundtrack was pretty good, and the story was enough to engage the viewer. All the crew, is great, except the person who supposedly, is the most important in this movie. It's very entertainment at first, but it gets boring at the end.

Good performances but the characters are stupid and the story feels somewhat half baked.

worst high budget zombie movie I have seen since Land of the Dead 2005. Dave Bautista's acting was horrible like Swarzenneger in a Rom-Com
