Anderson hasn’t just delivered his best film in years — he’s also managed to capture the zeitgeist in his own unique way.
It’s enjoyable on the surface level, but it’s also a layered existential poem. It’s Wes Anderson at his most mature and magical — and at his most singular, in a way no one else can capture — especially not AI.

Characteristic visual aesthetic and composition for Wes Anderson. If you like the style you're more than likely to enjoy this movie as well. The story is structured into acts/scenes. Switching the narative perspective from time to time makes following the entire plot slightly challenging which might be off-putting for the general audience. The cast performance is in tune with the absurd/nonsensical twists woven throughout the story.

Asteroid City is an absolute delight, Anderson’s best since The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Tilting surprisingly dark – I suspect the film is at least in part about how we process trauma – but also somewhat impenetrable on first watch, it was another startlement when I realized I was crying. I can’t wait to go back.
More so than with some of his recent films, like “The French Dispatch,” or even such earlier celebrated works as “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” not only did I marvel at its color-coordinated craftsmanship, but I also found parts of it to be emotionally moving – a rarity in the Anderson canon.
Anderson’s 11th movie is simultaneously furiously busy and curiously uneventful.
If you asked an AI program to create a Wes Anderson movie, you’d get Asteroid City, the latest — and worst — film from the writer-director of “The French Dispatch” (2021) and “Isle of Dogs” (2018).
A visually and artistically beautiful, slowly-unfolding metaphor about grief, existentialism, art and the human experience. Asteroid City is not an 'easy' movie, often requiring the viewer to pay attention to small details that return later in satisfying and emotionally compelling ways — something made easier by the film's hypnotizing cinematography.
Wes Anderson creatively makes use of multiple frame narratives in a manner rarely seen in modern cinema to tell an enchantingly beautiful story once you get to the core of it. Admittedly, it can get a little hard to follow at times, but yields good returns if you surrender your attention to this piece of art.

Wow. Well here's the positive- it's a Wes Anderson movie. So if you love Wes Anderson films, go ahead and give it a whirl. Amazing cast too. Like, all-time amazing. Now here's the bad- like....... not much really happens. It kind of comes and goes and it's over. Cute enough i suppose. Aggressively mediocre.

Better then, the French Dispatch. But the story was still unfocus, getting everywhere but lacking any clarity. The humour is partially there but rather weak. I think going from one perspective to another (the one in black and white), just broke the story so many times. It felt like the black and white reality was just filling time. I found it very long after 45 minutes. The style is always very good tho. The acting is solid, even from the children actors. The 3 girls were certainly the most funny. The music didn't do anything for me. I give it 65%. I think Wes should move back to tell a simpler and heartfelt story, rather then something cryptic with too many levels of symbolism.

Have you ever had a dream that seemed to make sense while you were sleeping, but when you wake up you realize it wasn't really about anything; just a bunch of random scenes held together by some flimsy context. Well, that's how this movie struck me. Gratuitous kitsch.
