Sometimes the movie is a little too slick. Some of the characters, such as Sean’s girlfriend (Jacqueline Byers) and the FBI agents who begin to believe Sean’s story, are underdeveloped. I don't get why the "top critics" despise this movie? I think they have it out for Dean Devlin. This was a low budget, indie film, produced, directed, and essentially marketed by an indie company with the help of Legion M. This isn't some huge blockbuster company. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of tension that was able to be built from this movie. It can be a bit linear at points given the circumstances, but it does not overall take away from all the action and suspense this film brings to the table. I also disagree with the low ratings given by the professional critics. This film (though it started out a little slow...to introduce the characters) got crazy tense and the tension built to the end. David Tennant is certainly believable here as a deranged psycho and Robert Sheehan is also excellent as a young man who breaks into Tennant's home to rob him, but instead finds a female captive (Kerry Condon). Pretty believable deranged psycho, reasonably well played burglar. Sort of interesting, sometimes the suspense is really there, though it's all hardly surprising or innovative. If you look closely at the plot it's all rather improbable, but if you go with the flow it's an okay movie.

Bad Samaritan is an entertaining watch. I can't deny that. I wasn't bored by it and you could even say that I enjoyed myself for the most part while watching it. It has an interesting premise, and I was impressed by the antagonist. However, it's hard for me to ignore how incredibly stupidBad Samaritan is an entertaining watch. I can't deny that. However, it's hard for me to ignore how incredibly stupid most of the characters in this film are. My goodness, I guess we are just meant to assume that most of the people that found themselves in this story are not the smartest folks around. Even when I try to ignore that issue, I still have a few problems with how the story unfolded in the third act. The dialogue is also quite painful at times. Bad Samaritan reminded me of Disturbia in a sense, except it's not as good. Like I said, I didn't hate this film, and it was entertaining enough to make me feel like I didn't waste $5 on a ticket, but I don't think I'll ever have the sudden urge to watch this one again.… Expand

Tennant carries this movie far beyond what a majority of other lead actors could. The rest of the cast tries but they just can't carry this laughably bad script beyond its laughably bad status. This movie isn't even worthy of a rental IMO. The pacing is so inconsistent, It is way too longTennant carries this movie far beyond what a majority of other lead actors could.
