This is squirmy, hilarious fun.
With its tongue placed firmly in cheek (it is, after all, called Big Ass Spider), it delivers on a whole bunch of laughs and thrills, in a way that some big budget spectaculars can't even muster.

This movie is great. The VFX are much better than the usual stuff you see on TV. Funny as hell and tons of action from the first minute. Greg Grunberg (from Heroes) and his Mexican side-kick are hilarious together. Even the music was great (starts with a Pixies song!). Recommended to watch with friends while having a drink and laughing your big-ass off!

This is a really fun film that never takes itself seriously. It's obvious that everyone in this film is having a blast and it translates well to audience enjoyment. If you're looking for a funny movie that pays homage to the old-time monster films, you'd be hard pressed to find a better choice. Mike Mendez has done a great job and I hope he makes more just like this.

Mike Mendez's shamelessly Corman-esque Big Ass Spider! does almost everything just a tiny bit better than it needs to.
Grunberg and Boyar have a charming, if broad, chemistry. It’s all kind of cheesy, of course, but it’s meant to be. And the effects, when not deliberately silly, aren’t bad.
Big Ass Spider! wants to serve two masters, the ones who unabashedly enjoy this type of movie without shame, and the ones who openly mock it with false senses of superiority.
The director, Mike Mendez, shows no signs of knowing how to make campy horror work the way that the creators of similar movies on Syfy do. It has to be either subtle or over the top. This is neither.
Big Ass Spider, lazily directed by Mike Mendez and unwisely written without a trace of necessary camp by Gregory Gieras, aims for satire and settles for stale shtick. It ends with the song “La Cucaracha,” leaving the door open for more insects to come. Cockroaches, anyone?
Okay so, I don't know how you couldn't enjoy this movie. But I should mention if you go into this thinking that this will be the next Avengers, you're dead wrong. It's not an amazing movie by any standards but it is a lot of fun to watch. The acting is surprisingly well done, even more surprising are the big name roles behind some characters Alex (Greg Grunberg), Braxton (Ray Wise), Karly (Clare Kramer) and a few others. The actors do a good job of actually having chemistry, especially Alex and Jose (Lombardo Boyar) who becomes Alex's sidekick during the first act. They have regular banner and it's very believable and surprisingly funny and entertaining. The story is nothing special but it's nothing terrible (small spoilers ahead). So basically the government combined DNA found on mars with fruit but a spider nest was inside and now it has grown to exponential size. So Alex and Jose team up to take it down seeing as the military cannot for some reason that is not worth thinking about. Nothing amazing but not terrible.
The comedy is what makes this movie, if you don't like comedies than you won't like this movie. Although it isn't exclusive to this genre, also engaging in horror and a bit of drama. The genres blend together surprisingly well.
That's all, go watch this movie. It's a masterpiece 9/10. Cgi was bad but not bad enough to take away too much from the movie, it's CGI where you see it and say "Yikes" but not CGI that ruins the movie. Not terrible, but you can tell. But I have to commend the guy doing the practical effects, they are amazing. For such a small budget this movie turned out really well in my opinion.

Quite an interesting movie but impact on the bottom, but a little more special effects terrible but very good plot. but being sincere was the best movie spider attack that i've seen.

While it seems like another one of those cheesy movies you have seen on SyFy with awful special effects horrible acting and with some boring scenes. However this movie was a fun watch. It starts up attempting to be funny, some gags do not work but others are good for a chuckle but it quickly goes into hunting the spider and with some likable side characters it really was not that bad of a watch. The graphics were not good but not awful either. Most importantly the movie did not take itself seriously without going over the top like Sharknado did. Overall 6/10 a B-Movie that was fun to watch.

While not terrible, this one could have been infinitely better. The humor falls flat most of the film, the special effects are terrible (even though, they kinda are suppose to be), the acting is passable (at best) and Greg Grunberg just doesn’t have the chops to be a leading man. There’s definitely some charm to this film as it lampoons Sci-Fi films of old but it just had too many drawbacks to be the spectacular piece of satire it could have been.

[A gang of baby spiders attacking a women and dragging her away and the main character says this...] Alex Mathis: "Oh no, oh dam she dead, okay guys let get out of here." That right there is some of the worst acting and the worst sentence since the masterpiece of **** that was The Room.
I don't really need to go into full detail about this movie. You can tell by the title of this movie that it's not even going to try to be good and would you know it this movie is awful, but it's so bad that it's actually pretty funny, I mean good god.
The acting is dreadful, the directing is just playing bad and effects are just terrible. This movie is so bad it's actually pretty funny, I won't lie that I laughed more then once during this movie. It's on the same level of funny and bad like The Room.
