Villains, of course, are always the weakest part of Marvel films, but this one at least bothers to develop its own more and give it a purpose beyond destroying the world. The acting was excellent and emotional during some moments. All in all, I think this is what Chadwick Boseman's memory deserved. Expand

Extreme difficulty project that they landed beautifully. Better than the first one in my opinion, but I’m sure opinions will vary on that. This was very well directed. Coogler and the camera team imbued this film with a lot of artistry. As huge studio pictures go this movie was a visual marvel. The 3D was worth it too. It didn’t feel like “just another marvel movie” and that’s the most important compliment at this point. Black Panther as a series has its own vibe more than the others and I appreciate that at this point in the marvel anthology. Acting was all very good. There’s a lot of heavy lifting to be done here and everyone showed up. Music is a little in your face at times but it worked. Everything felt of a tone.

The plot here is better than the actual nuts and bolts of the story but I like the characters and the worlds they played with. It’s a visceral experience with compelling emotionality. I also enjoyed the folklore elements that were woven into the tale.

On its own terms, I’d give it an 8.5/10. Out of all marvel movies I’d rank it as B+ tier.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is not with out it’s flaws, but the uniqueness, maturity, and twist turn nature of the film puts it leagues a head of Marvels previous projects, and secures a spot in the halls of greatness.

Ryan Coogler had a seemingly impossible job, yet somehow he was able to pull off a film that honors the legacy of Chadwick Boseman but also might even be better than the original.
I loved the movie. This movie is a must see!

There wasn't enough time to build the characters in 2 hours and 40 mins. I wanted to see more of Namor and his people and maybe some more interaction with them, you introducing all whole new civilization like Wakanda, so you need a whole movie or series to do that. Namor in general needed more time to discover his character. Angela Bassett should get some kind of award she really is the Queen Ramonda and am only reminded its her because there is only 1 Angela Bassett on this planet. Lol.

We also could've used more time with Mbaku. The directo did an amazing job as usual. Movie looked great. All the females in this movie absolutely did a great job and it was cool to see more of them.

They did a great job making you feel the loss of Chadwick this entire movie. I think this is one of the better marvel movies to come out on this phase. Overall good movie.

There's one hour / one hour and a half introducing various things, fairly interesting and nicely made, even if it might feel a little long at some point for some people... There are several majestic things here and there (settings, costumes and visuals radiate poetry and sheer beauty), but the movie really and definitely takes off for good when it reaches its half, then it becomes extremely catchy pretty much all the time and intense in-depth... Undoubtedly mesmerizing ; emotionally, visually-wise and action-wise of course. Gorgeous/Stunning visuals all along (even breathtaking at times), the music, the adventure as a whole, and the new characters introduced are all true strengths of the movie (alongside with the mind-blowing costume design which might very much be a no-brainer upcoming Oscar winner)... Most definitely a slow burn (for story/lore and characters development's sake) with elongated storylines/scenes in the first half (aside from a couple of scenes), but in fact it plants many seeds and it very well pays off down the line... You are invested with pretty much every important character, which is a nice feeling obviously. And yes, again, the second half of the movie is a pure blast, in particular the last hour which is masterfully orchestrated and shines high-in-color before hour very eyes ! In the end, it leaves you a very pleasant taste. A deep pleasure it is to spend time in Wakanda and Talocan, and with these truly charismatic and interesting/layered characters.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really enjoyed Shuri's story, the film was incredibly emotional and powerful and had me in tears a few times. Most of the scenes were incredibly done and blew me away but the finale was a bit of a jumble with too many elements going on at once. I feel the finale could actually have been much easier to follow if it weren't for the one character who seems to not really belong in this movie. Yes, Riri. Now, I don't mind her as a mcguffin in theory, but her character is so poorly presented, undeveloped and almost a mary-sue. She's just amazing and that's it. She can invent anything and make an amazing power suit without breaking a sweat and there seem to be no missteps or character development. She wants a suit, she makes a suit. She wants a vibranium detector, she makes a vibranium detector. She doesn't work as a character in her own rite, she is just there to be the thing that the characters are fighting over. I would be wiling to accept if that is all she was, but they are trying to make her more than that and she just sticks out like a sore thumb. Expand

The score from Ludwig Göransson did not miss at all. The VFX, BGM the acting were so damn good and the Mid Credit scene is one of the most touching and emotional moments in the MCU. I would have preferred if it was 10 minutes shorter but then again I think it was necessary. Angela Basset deserves an Oscar Nomination for sure. CBM of the Year without a doubt.

-great villain who will be a big part of the Mcu moving forward

-has the classic Mcu feel to it, unlike the rest of phase 4
-great soundtrack and great song by Rihanna

Cons:
-Too drawn out (becomes boring at times)
-Anticlimactic ending (although surprising mid-credit scene)
-A hand full of useless scenes that have no purpose but to make the movie longer

It’s the kind of film that shows comic book movies can indeed go beyond action sequences and endless explosions to offer viewers something more meaningful and substantial, a result capable of silencing critics like filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who blanketly contend that these releases are without artistic merit. What’s more, this second outing in the franchise has undoubtedly saved it from oblivion after losing its lead character in the wake of its initial outing with the untimely death of protagonist Chadwick Boseman. In addition to telling a compelling story, this film provides a credible bridge to the future while fittingly serving as a respectful tribute to its fallen star, one that honors the actor in a way that the movie industry unfortunately never did. Its tactful, reverential treatment of this issue is sure to evoke an emotional response, if not a few tears, in a truly loving but not maudlin way. Beyond that, the narrative and character development in this installment are also a significant cut above the original, telling a more engaging story with deftly nuanced themes that make its predecessor look comparatively simple. It also features fine performances by its ensemble cast, particularly Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and, most notably, Angela Bassett in a genuinely Oscar-worthy portrayal. But what’s most impressive is the film’s handling of its principal themes, delving into concepts that action-adventure offerings rarely, if ever, do, and certainly not as capably addressed as here (making pictures like “The Woman King” appear somewhat amateurish by comparison). To be sure, there are a few elements that might have been handled better (the picture is a little too long, it underutilizes the talents of Winston Duke, and there are a few too many James Cameron-esque graphic and cinematic attributes reminiscent of “Avatar” (2009) and “The Abyss” (1989)), but these are minor shortcomings in comparison to everything else the picture has to offer. Of course, it’s impossible to talk about this release without noting that it probably wouldn’t have the same onscreen impact were it not for the tragic offscreen story that has sadly accompanied it, though the filmmakers truly deserve praise for their sensitive handling of this matter without giving in to cheap exploitation or sensationalism, results that may very well have occurred in lesser-skilled hands. It’s truly comforting to see that the “Black Panther” franchise has managed to weather this storm and to do so as well as it has. Wakanda Forever indeed. Expand

I am speechless. I came out of that cinema with some wet tissues and an enchanted feeling. everything about this movie had my jaw on the floor from the music and soundtrack to the acting, culture, villain and most importantly, the perfection in how marvel handled chardwicks death. they created an everlasting legacy for him in thi film and never made his character to be easily replaceable. his death so notably left a hole in the universe and gave such a beautiful and raw touch to his legacy. im so glad that his death was something that shuri couldn't have stopped, instead. it was a part of life. an illness. I'm o glad they dint tarnish it with some stupid fight scene or him dying in battle. rather. using rawness and human problems to bring light to his own outside the character. from beginning to end, they made constant tributes to him and his everlasting character. usinga gentle or no soundtrack in his scenes, especially the opening marvel scene that had his tribute rather than the entire mcu cast. just him. because thats the movie. its him and his legacy its chwdwick and the black panther. constantly, his characterwas remembered as something great, something irreplaceable. so many scenes drove me to complex emotions I teared up sooo much in that movie.

the music moved me as well. I felt empowered whenever there was African music and calm when they included Spanish music. I felt shaken and alert at fight scenes and sentimental and tribute scenes. just everything about this movie tbh.

there is no words I can use to peice together thr perfection o it. the characters the cast shuris devopment killmonger the queen the music the visuals the cinematography the visual effects omg the visual effects. the tribute the plot the writing just everything.

the only only reason I rste it a 9 and not 10 was because it was quite long with some jnnescasry scenes that coul be used to instead deepen the rich plot, rather some scenes rake away from this.

but it doesn't distract from the masterpiece marvel created so don't worry.

go watch it right now its amazing wow.
I genuinely don't know why it has such mediocre ratings it hurts my heart.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is by far 10/10. It is probably one of my top three favorite marvel movies. The main element is sadness. This movie is meant to show loss and pouring. These are the deaths of T'Chall and Ramonda. Shuri is forced to learn and become the queen. She puts in the work and becomes the black panther. When she goes to the ancestral plane instead of seeing her family she sees Killmonger. This says that we all have a little bad in us. This movie was so amazing and I definitely recommend seeing (more than once) Expand

Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020) R.I.P.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie's biggest problem was figuring out how to handle chadwick boseman's passing respectfully while also giving a sound reason for the new main character to be the new main character. This ultimately was handled very well, which I respect, although knowing in the back of my mind that certain story beats were only happening because of that took me out of the experience a bit.

With that being said, it has a lot to offer. The visual effects were great, particularly in the underwater city. Side characters of Black Panther 1 get a lot more time to shine, particularly Queen Ramonda and Shuri, even Mbaku gets a couple nice scenes. The soundtrack, while not as impactful as the first, was still really good. There was a certain cameo towards the end of the second act which was brilliantly done and actually felt necessary to the story which is unusual for cameos a lot of the time.

A great way to carry Chadwicks' legacy as Black Panther.

HeWakanda Forever proves to be a great end to an otherwise inconsistent phase 4. Ryan Coogler truly nails the story, direction, and cinematography of this film, adding depth and impressive camerawork to the MCU that oftentimes feels missing. He also adds complex themes regarding grief, vengeance, and nationalism that leave the audience thinking in the end about the content of the film, rather than just mindlessly consuming it like some MCU movies. Additionally, the characters (namely Shuri and Namor, who deserves his own series or movie) and actors associated with them, are phenomenal, although I did find the inclusion of both Riri Williams and Everett Ross to be superfluous. The action sequences are also much improved over the first film thanks to better (but still sometimes middling) CGI. As difficult as this movie was to get made given the circumstances surrounding its production, Ryan Coogler and company still manage to create another very compelling project that hopefully is a sign of better things to come for an MCU that's been getting stale and mixed in quality. The story has a few weaknesses and Chadwick Boseman is deeply missed. Might sound too negative as the story was also never boring, I liked the cast, humour, climax and at the end I was entertained. I should also mentioned that neither Atlantis nor Namor are like the comic book sources but Tenoch Huerta sold me the character. Also you should know that Riri Williams is a red flag for Marvel comic readers. She should replace Ironman aka Tony Stark in the comics when Robert Downey Jr. made the character as popular as never before. It should not surprise that this was a bad idea that flopped. For me in this movie Riri Williams works well and I was invested. Dominique Thorne sold me the character. The overall story while entertaining has weaknesses. For example the reason for the conflict between the two factions is nonsensical. Even a below average leader should find better solutions as Namor and it blows the cover that protects his people better than anything else. I am a bit vague to avoid spoilers but you can easily guess what I meant The actors deliver a good performance. I like the old characters that returned and new ones introduced. I should also say it is not and I repeat not a woke abomination like some people say. Optically I like the style of the movie. The sets look beautiful, the costumes are excellent and the special effects work as always. Lastly I liked the action scenes and battles. Overall I give a 7/10 but think that without Black Panther 1 I would go higher. Worth watching. Expand

Wakanda Forever was a respectable follow-up to the first Black Panther, although there could have been some time cut. It is really sad for the thirtieth instalment in Marvel Cinematic Universe and direct sequel to 2018’s Black Panther not to feature Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther because he passed away two years ago. With the character not recast out of respect, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever features Shuri as the leading character for the final movie of Phase 4.

King T’Challa/Black Panther of Wakanda passed away from an illness while his sister, Shuri (Wright), attempts to recreate the heart-shaped herb which was destroyed by N’Jadaka/Erik “Killmonger” Stevens years ago. His death saddens the people of Wakanda including his family. One year later, T’Challa’s mother, Ramonda, have taken over as the Queen of Wakanda and she is currently facing pressure from other nations wanting the country to share the vibranium with them. Shuri have also stop recreating the heart-shaped herb because she believe that the Black Panther is ancient artifact of the past and trying to move on with her life.

Meanwhile, a mysterious blue-skinned and water-breathing humans led by King Namor (Mejía) of Talokan attack the CIA and Navy SEALs in Atlantic Ocean where they are using a vibranium-detecting machine to locate vibranium. Namor visits Queen Ramonda and Shuri in Wakanda where he told them that when T’Challa revealed to the world about vibranium, his country which is an underwater nation is now being threatened by the machine since not only Talokan has vibranium, the nation have been living in secrecy for a long time. He urge them to track down the one who made the machine and bring that person to him or else he will declare war on Wakanda. With the help of CIA agent, Everett Ross, Shuri and Okeye track down Riri Williams (Thorne), an MIT student who made the machine. Shuri now has to make a choice whether to hand over Riri to Namor or risk going to war.

While it is sad that Chadwick Boseman’s character is not getting a recast, the movie still manage to work around on his legacy. Instead of focusing too much on his legacy, the plot of the movie opt to explores more of the lore on Wakanda, Talokan and other characters relating to Black Panther. The movie really made it very interesting to the point that is not really boring after all. Bringing in Namor for this movie is really great because of the character’s complicated movie and distribution rights. Thumbs up to Marvel Studios for that hard work to bring him to the big screen.

Ryan Coogler does a great job in directing this movie just like how he have done in the previous movie. As the cast, they really gave an awesome performance especially Letitia Wright and Tenoch Huerta Mejía. Letitia really does an impressive performance on being a lead character while Tenoch does a great job on being an anti-hero character. If Chadwick Boseman is here, you will give an awesome performance as the title character. I’m sure he is very proud of the cast from the afterlife.

The visual effects in this movie really improved a lot from the previous movie especially the underwater scenes. Marvel Studios really did take note from 2018’s Aquaman despite the movie being their distinguished competitor. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a great sequel and a heartwarming tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Whether it is better than the first movie or the other way around is up for debate. You really do not want to miss this movie. There is no post-credits scene but do stay for mid-credits scene because this one is a very heartwarming moment.

Ryan Coogler handled this wonderfully. He treated the passing of Chadwick with the utmost respect, and I got to admire that. I don't think this movie is as good as the first one but it is definitely one of the more emotional ones. I'm notRyan Coogler handled this wonderfully.
