A labor of love -- a swan song repaying a lifetime of happy debts to the theater, by grace of two terrific performances.
Glover and especially Bassett give strong performances, shaking off their Hollywood patina and losing themselves in these gritty roles.
About two people on a stage, talking their way into and out of alienation.
Gradually, the power of the material and the stars takes hold, flashbacks begin to flesh out the characters' lives, and Boesman & Lena comes alive--achingly and passionately.
(Bassett's) finally been given another part worthy of her talents, and she makes the most of it.
Awfully poky, even for an art film.
Stilted as a beach house, the movie crawls from one harangue to another.
