Williams and director Dito Montiel are in tune with a pervading sense of tenderness, as the movie distinctly ruminates on connection, not love.
This is one of the kindest characters Williams has ever played, which makes his self-imposed turmoil — the consequence of not wanting to hurt anyone, least of all his wife — all the more tragic.

Boulevard ist Robin Williams letzter Film, ein paar Tage nach dem Schluss der Dreharbeit begann er am 11. August 2014 Suizid. Der Bänker Nolan Mack (Robin Williams) ist verheiratet und steht kurz vor der Beförderung. Aus dem Nichts beschließt er den Stricher Leo (Roberto Aguire) in sein Auto mitzunehmen und bezahlt diesen. Es findet nichts Sexuelles statt, nur Gespräche und Unternehmungen. Doch seine Frau weiß nichts, davon und Nolan versucht dieses zu verheimlichen.
Boulevard ist ein solides Drama, mehr aber auch leider nicht. Robin Williams spielt wie immer super. Mit dem Hintergrund, was mit ihm passiert ist, macht den Film trauriger. Seine Parkinsonkrankheit sieht man ihm an, wenn man auf seine Hände und Körperhaltung schaut. Die anderen Charaktere werden nicht gut genug beleuchtet. Seine Frau ist nur an sich selber interessiert und denkt nur an den Urlaub. Leos Charakter wird auch nicht wirklich genau ausgearbeitet. Der Film fokussiert sich auf Nolans Geschichte und seine **** nicht mehr verstecken zu müssen, sondern diese auszuleben. Mit ca. 80 Minuten ist der Film viel zu kurz geraten, somit bekommen alle Charaktere zu wenig Tiefe. Boulevard ist kein schlechter Film, er wirkt leider nur nicht fertig ausgearbeitet.

The late, great Robin Williams brings great nuance to the anguished Nolan’s inner struggle in a slight but sensitive story about a man facing a life-changing choice. It’s a worthy legacy for a beloved, talented and much-missed actor.
Boulevard consistently evokes the road not traveled, but doesn’t particularly stand out alongside other dramas that have explored the same terrain.
If anything, Boulevard is the apotheosis of Williams’ later career, not an anomaly. I wish I could tell you it was a better and more satisfying film, but even its odd, strangled and almost antique quality – it plays out like a well-intentioned Sundance drama from about 1986 – feels curiously appropriate.
Well-intentioned, but predictable and instantly dated.
Not merely rote, Boulevard is contemptible for a belief in its own stature as a daring attempt to parse through the minutia of its core relationship, where Nolan's uncertain sexuality would be terms enough to laud the film's provocative insights.

Thoughtful, emotional drama. Robin Williams last film is at first sensitive then sentimental and then uncomfortable viewing. He is a reliable, dull, married bank worker whose need for affection and unresolved sexuality issues mean his life unravels after he encounters a rentboy. There's decent supporting acting and good dialgue. It's sure to provoke a response, which will be dsgust in some, sadness in others. It's attempt to end on a positive note failed to lift me back up.

Robin Williams delivers a great and strong performance in his very last film role. Boulevard has it's moments and those are mostly the emotional scenes with are main character, has he deals with his struggles in life and the feeling of being left out. The movie has heart and it's a beautiful looking movie. The movie isn't flawless, but it dose have it's great moments and the overall film is worth checking out.

A mighty actor in a light role, accomplish it like usual.
Ian McKellen would have been a convenient actor to lead in this as it was a very close to his real life. You might have heard this is a Robin Williams last movie. One final amazing character display where the whole movie was about his part, but nothing else. A decent storyline, but a simple, low cost drama about ****.
The exposition of the tale was very brief, but took its time to evolve in the entire 90 minutes. Still clarifications like regarding his wife, their marriage and the end scene can not be proved its meaning. Though we can assume them in many angles. I think those were the major setback for this film, otherwise it could have been a better one.
I would have loved it if the emotions were stronger. Because the film characters and their relationship constructions were absorbing. So the only missing piece was the sentimental appeal. But Robin Williams' sudden dismissal and the time of this movie is coming out is what heartbreaks, especially the sort of role he appeared in it. I am positive that if you like him very much, then you must see it.
