Captain Marvel is a really cool movie that tells us the story of Carol Denvers in a fresh and quirky way compared to other Marvel movies.
Brie Larson is a perfect choice for portraying her, I couldn't think of anyone else! Plus, the chemistry between her and Samuel L. Jackson is really good, since they're great friends IRL, and capable of delivering lots of unforgettable funny moments.
Another thing that makes this movie special for me is the amazing Stan Lee tribute in the Marvel intro and cameo, which I gotta say its my favourite one: a simple, yet powerful heartwarming exchange of genuine smiles between Stan and Brie. Thank you Stan, for everything.
Don't let anyone fool you! You might have heard bad things about the movie, the character or even the actress herself, I'm just going to say: watch it and judge for yourself, I'm sure it's going to be worth your while.

Captain Marvel feels as substantial as any of the other standalone Marvel Cinematic Universe films, even if it does things at a more relaxed pitch. The movie’s pioneer status is gestured toward some in the film, but mostly Boden and Fleck are focused on competently telling a tale that fits into the larger machine. It does, just fine.
So why does Captain Marvel feel like a bit of a disappointment? It’s fine and often quite funny. It fits securely within the MCU but also functions sufficiently as a stand-alone entity. But the character, and the tremendous actress playing her in Oscar-winner Brie Larson, deserved more than fine.
The best reason to see the movie is Larson, who showed how terrific she could be in "Short Term 12" and "Room" as women whose ways of fighting back were frustratingly earthbound.
Captain Marvel seems to hold itself to no higher standard than the absolute minimum that people tend to expect from an entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What’s said to be Marvel’s most powerful superhero ever is served Melatonin by Larson. There is precious little texture or detail, ups and downs, or emotions of any kind in her performance. The character, even when kicking ass, is a total bore. Such as it is, the film’s best moments are provided by Jackson and a hilarious cat.
Coming back with an updated review. I've rewatched this film multiple times since it came out and, honestly, it's just rising to earn the title of my favorite Marvel movie at this point. It just gets better every time. I've come to really appreciate Brie Larson's acting-- the wit and charm her character has. This film really resonates with me and the journey she goes on with gaslighting and identity. Ignore the 0 and 1 ratings, those are likely just the incels that keep trying to lower the film's status. They're pretty easy to spot. This film is ace.

its a meh movie that leans towards being bad and if it was a stand alone movie and not part of the MCU it would be about a 5 but it actively ruins scenes from previous movies in the MCU and is carried entirely by the side cast due to how bland and unlikeable the Main Character (Captain Marvel) is but while this may come as a surprise to some Brie Larson was the perfect cast for this version of Captain Marvel because this version of Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) is an incredibly unlikeable character in the Comics and she perfectly portrays how unlikeable the character is that said I don't think that was intentional on Brie Larsons, the Writers and the Directors part its just how it came out for multiple reasons

Wasted potential. Marvel could have done wonders with the character, and they somehow did such a bad job writing the script they made even the actor look bad.
My main issues with the movie are how they fail to develop the character and end up giving her an annoying and single-dimensional personality.
It's a superhero movie, but there is no hero's journey. Carol Danvers's character is that of a narcissistic **** who thinks she is above everyone else, better, and fails to show a shred of emotion.
From the moment the character is introduced, rather than making a connection with the audience, she just annoys them. She constantly talks down to everyone, her biggest vulnerability is 'showing emotion'. Is that an ironic joke? What emotion? I have no clue about the actor, but seeing as how she is a professional, she must know what she is doing. But the writing makes it seem almost like she is incapable of acting as a likable person.
The entire movie felt like when you are playing pretend superheroes as children and the annoying kid keeps on shooting down your attacks without effort.
She is just superman without kryptonite. Watching the movie was just an eye-rolling experience. She is smug, condescending, and annoying. Didn't enjoy a second of this movie, nor felt a connection to the character.
