The Planet of the Apes films had always been political, but with Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, things got angry. And it was awesome.

'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' is the weakest of the first four films. It's watchable, still.
It shares similarities to 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' from the rebooted 2010s series, though it isn't quite as entertaining or convincing. Serviceable it is, however. Roddy McDowall stays in the franchise, but as a different character in Caesar. McDowall is the clear standout from the cast, the rest of whom are solid if forgettable.
I found the real world parallels a bit too forced in this one, while the long speeches near the end feel over the top. For the early 1970s, though, the look of the film remains pleasant - I do like watching these films, after all this is - in my opinion - still a passable flick; if indeed the weakest so far.

I love the character development of Caesar and how Armando was willing to sacrifice everything to keep him safe. Their relationship is a big reason why I like the movie so much. And while the ending does drag a little bit, as they normally do in the Apes series, Caesar's epic speech at the end makes it all worthwhile.

An allegorical fable of fascism and slavery, CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is the best of the four sequels in the hugely successful APES series, as well as being the darkest and most violent.
It's not bad, as apes and 20th Century-Fox go, at least hand in hand.
Wringing the last drops out of the idea, it strains to stay on-side, but it remains true enough to the spirit of the series to get it over the line.
Dismally lurid stuff, ham-fistedly directed and low on credibility.
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is the weakest part of the original franchise. This is such a mediocre film that it cannot even be called independent. He just connects 3 and 5 films. It can be seen that the authors had already uploaded ideas, well, there was no need to make another film in the time interval before the main events

There were so many ridiculous and cheap scenes, so that this is the worst Planet of the Apes movie for me. In addition the characters were very onesided and unrealistic. Imagine you are a gouverneur and you dont have much trust into your representative...
Yet the idea was great: showing a dictatorship suppressing the apes is a good idea and showing how the rebellion is going on.
