This authentic film is about a Freelance female war reporter named Alex Quade that travels to the most dangerous areas of Iraq and Afghanistan in order to honor a fallen hero named Robert Pirelli’s legacy for his family and loves ones. To begin with, not only was I blown away by the incredible raw footage shot in this fascinating documentary, but the uncensored interactions with Taliban made my heart race and was unlike any documentary I have ever seen. Additionally, this film is every bit as touching and emotionally moving as it is engaging and objective. The heartwarming interviews with Robert Pirelli’s family and interviews with other soldiers who worked with him gives an insightful look in to the world of armed troops and shows the incredible impact soldiers have to everyone around them. I loved this film and it is absolutely worth the watch.… Expand

Quade captures amazing moments from the field, such as when the unit she is embedded with comes under fire from Al Qaeda forces, which gives a front row seat to experiences of our soldiers. These engaging moments were fascinating to watch and made me truly appreciate the bravery of our troops and reporters like Quade. Danger Close is a great documentary that is worth the watch.… Expand

Danger Close is a documentary about valor and heroism, and I couldn’t get enough. Watching this film filled me with even more respect for the men and women that risk their lives on a daily basis to protect our country. Watching this film filled me with even more respect for the men and women that risk their lives on a daily basis to protect our country. War reporter Alex Quade honors the life of fallen soldier Rob Pirelli by travelling to the combat outpost that he helped build. Although the family members are unable to see his accomplishment in person, Quade uses her unprecedented access as a reporter and risks her life to send footage of it to his family. The most gratifying part of the film is watching Pirelli’s family members see his outpost for the first time; their awe and pride intermingled with melancholy. This film truly represents how Pirelli was respected and admired, and how much he will be missed. This documentary stretches this respect towards all soldiers and veterans in a tasteful and significant way.… Expand

Danger Close finds its creed in one thing: honoring the soldier above all else. It’s rare that a documentary can so eloquently walk the line between a tasteful exposure of the soldier’s experience and telling a genuine story that doesn’t feel phoned in. It’s rare that a documentary can so eloquently walk the line between a tasteful exposure of the soldier’s experience and telling a genuine story that doesn’t feel phoned in. Danger Close dances on that line, succeeding in honoring the soldier as well as repaying the viewer with a gripping tale. Trust me when I say that most audiences will leave with a satiated heart - and perhaps a less dry eye by the time the credits roll. We follow Alex Quade, a freelance journalist as she follows Special Forces Operative through a 300-mile trek along the Iraq/Iran border to find an outpost that fallen Green Beret Robert Pirelli built. This discovery is paramount to the plot, as Pirelli’s family back home seeks closure in unearthing their lost loved one’s landmark achievement. The final cut of the film swerves away from overwhelming the viewer with too constant a sense of tension, and is sure to move away from heartbreak once it has given us enough of a taste. In this way, Danger Close grants an ownership of experience to soldiers and Gold Star families while elegantly allowing empathy to the viewer. It would be a success if Danger Close managed just that; the fact that it remains a positively thrilling watch that I can easily recommend to any documentary lover heightens it to excellence.… Expand

Presented in a point and shoot format, female war reporter Alex Quade chronicles her journey as she travels across Iraq in order to tell Staff Sgt. Robert Pirelli’s story and the legacy that he has left behind. My favorite aspect of the film were the combat missions conducted by Special Operation Forces which portrayed the bravery and heroism that all soldiers display when fighting on the front lines. I would highly recommend this film to anyone interested in learning more about what it takes to be a soldier in the U.S. military and the sacrifices that are made every day to ensure our freedom.… Expand
