As is required of the story, Branagh isolates and imposes suspicions and conflicts so that every character becomes equal part victim and villain.
A far more intimate portrait of the detective than one might expect.

While Poirot is always witty, few of the other characters are. Michael Green’s screenplay often feels weirdly detached, like we missed some crucial early scenes that tell us why we should care about these people. All that said, it’s no great hardship to watch Death on the Nile; it looks pretty, feels pleasantly old-school and is over within shouting distance of the two-hour mark.
While it might not stand the test of time, the film is an entertaining, easy watch that works well enough.
Overacting and silly lines sometimes distract, and the latter sound sillier in Branagh’s forced French accent (“Ah love, it is not safe”). Still, Branagh’s direction and screenwriter Michael Green, who also scripted “Orient,” add diversity and convincing emotions to the mystery mechanics.
Like Poirot’s mustache, the movie as a whole is a waxworks.
An aggressively misguided, strangely dour affair that starts off bad and only gets worse.

Death on the Nile is an average detective story. When we compare it with the 78 version, we see how a visual and fictional aesthetic approach can make a detective story beautiful. At least you don't get bored while watching it.

Kenneth Branagh até que se esforça para oferecer dignidade ao excelente material original, fruto da rainha dos enredos de detetive. infelizmente seu filme de mais de duas horas tornou um aborrecimento à parte, mas vencida a hora inicial, até que ganha fôlego.
Talvez tivesse que aprender com "Glass Onion" a apresentar de forma mais interessante os personagens. "Morte no Nilo", porém, opta por ser mais contido, sem a edição frenética ou música pop, o que está tudo bem também. O problema é que é muito ruim, os cortes são ruins, os diálogos, também, e até mesmo as atuações pareciam estar no piloto automático.
A partir do primeiro crime (se você não desistir até lá), começa a ficar interessante, mas não exatamente pela direção ou edição do filme, pode pôr todo o crédito na mente da Ágatha Christie, seria realmente muito difícil não ficar entretido com o desenrolar sempre muito original.
É uma pena que o filme não faz jus ao que poderia ter sido, mas ainda assim vale a conferida, Poirot é fantástico e um dos melhores personagens já criados na literatura.

The film is too long and slow, which detracts from the suspense and intrigue. The length of two hours and forty minutes is excessive, and the pace of the film is sometimes laborious. For example, the party scene on the boat is long and not very interesting. For example, the character of Simon Doyle is not very credible. It's too cliché and too predictable.Finally, it is a film that fails to exploit the potential of Agatha Christie's novel. The film is too long, slow, and melodramatic, and it lacks suspense and surprise.

Couldn’t even get though an hour. Just felt all over the place, the quality of acting smothered the ability to care about the story a enough to hang around. Even the CGI felt glossy.
