It seems questionable whether this was really intended as a movie in the first place.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a mediocre children's film that — 11 years after the first movie and 14 years after the initial hit book — feels at best derivative, and at worst unnecessary.

The animation is outstanding, but the movie has like, no energy the whole time and I think it's just a ripoff of the original 2010 live-action diary of a wimpy kid film. I just hope the sequel is even better
