Evolution is the sort of film that doesn’t require you to “turn off” your mind, but does ask that you surrender certain expectations. With its linear narrative and clear sense of a protagonist, Evolution is both more beautiful (thanks to gorgeous widescreen cinematography, including stunning underwater and nighttime footage, from “The Strange Color of Your Body’s Tears” d.p. Manu Dacosse) and accessible than “Innocence,” though the two films clearly function best as the twisted diptych that they are. Read full review

Un film envoutant et déroutant. Il faut lâcher prise et se laisser porter dans un univers très personnel à la fois poétique, sensuel et oppressant. Yes this movie is a bit slow moving and maybe it doesn't tie up everything in a neat little self satisfied bow at the end but it's a fantastic movie. The cinematography is amazing and the mood created is subtle and intriguing; the art direction is wonderful. I highly recommend. This movie looks absolutely beautiful. I would love to have the skills of this movie's cinematographer. HOWEVER, there is literally nothing else to this movie that stands out as exceptional.
