Flowers is a quiet, eloquent movie about big, overwhelming emotions, and the constant presence of its eponymous plants, in all kinds of colors and shapes, is a metaphor for the ways in which we respond to what life throws at us, be it a sudden trauma, a perpetual state of melancholy or an unexpected opportunity for romance. At first it seems like they're all too weird and wacky to be in any measure relatable, it seems like it's too gloomy and depressing, and like you don't even know what's going on.... but then you watch another episode, and another and find yourself crying in the heart-breaking finale andAt first it seems like they're all too weird and wacky to be in any measure relatable, it seems like it's too gloomy and depressing, and like you don't even know what's going on.... but then you watch another episode, and another and find yourself crying in the heart-breaking finale and searching for the wonderful soundtrack and repeating your favourite scenes over and over again. And finally rating it 10/10 and saying - to your own surprise - that this hidden gem, this little-known masterpiece is one of the best pieces of cinema to come out of Britain. It's astounding how this series can grow on you, how seemingly irrelevant and zany it at first appears to be, only to bloom into something few other series can even dream of matching.… Expand
