In its own terms, the movie--the eighth Garland and Rooney had made together--is just about irresistible.
Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney out West at a boys school/dude ranch. Their best movie musical, adapted from the Ginger Rogers-Ethel Merman stage show, with that great George and Ira Gershwin score. [13 Apr 2007, p.C6]
Irresistible entertainment.
With George Gershwin's music and plenty of elbow room, for its twin stars, Girl Crazy is a funny, fast and completely infectious entertainment.
The story thread is light, but enough to string together the George and Ira Gershwin songs.
