This one, taken on its own terms, isn’t bad in a TV-movie-fodder-as-parable way.
A lot of grappling happens. The community grapples. The characters grapple. People grapple alone, people grapple together. Grappling is more interesting to watch than certainty, any day of the week.

There is this idea that movies have to be entertaining, fun, and Academy Award level or they get dismissed (e.g., The 15:17 to Paris). This movie along with the others in the series, in my opinion, is not meant to be those things but meant to inspire discussion on truth, morality, government, religion through stories that are based on real events and current events. As handsomely mounted, TV-movie-quality cinema goes, “Light in Darkness” is at once the best looking, most coherent, and least histrionic of the franchise.
To its credit, this third GND installment earnestly attempts to give some degree of lip service to diverging perspectives on the socio-religious-political scale without too much proselytizing, although there’s never any question about who’s side it’s on.
God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness, directed by Michael Mason, is less strident than the two surprise hits that preceded it, but it still tells a programmatic story, rooted in presumptions.
It has to be said that “A Light in Darkness” is considerably better than the two movies that preceded it. Mason, in stark contrast to OG franchise director Harold Cronk, actually knows how to frame a shot like he’s ever actually seen a film before. Corbett also lends a real credibility to the scenes between Reverend Dave and his brother.
A Light In Darkness isn’t as offensive as the first film—it lacks the requisite misogyny and Islamophobia, and does a better job of looking like it’s almost a real movie—but it’s not far behind, an emblematic film for the foul moment.
It is amazing how many people are threatened by this movie. They gripe about how it stereotypes not Christians but have no issues with any form of media that stereotypes people who are Christians. While I found the first two films lacking in depth, I feel the filmmakers took that into their collective reasoning and corrected many of their previous mistakes. Other's say that they should quit making these movies because they only appeal to Christians. Oh no! A movie that targets a certain demographic??? How could they do such a thing??? No one has ever been so presumptuous before as to do such a thing... right? I'm willing to bet that 90% of the people who will give this movie 0 ratings never even went to see it and just leave such ratings because of their unfounded hate of anything that has to do with Christianity.

I can't say this one was any better or worse than the other 2, I'm honestly giving this one the highest score of the three for being pretty much forgettable, but it still looses points for relying on the same damn song at the end. I know it's in the movies title, but seriously, can't they find a new song?

Unlike the first two movies, the 3rd fortunately spends less time persecuting atheists and other non-Christian religious denominations in its attempt to treat Christians like the most persecuted people in the world. On the the downside it is still poorly written and poorly directed, and it serves no purpose other than to scare away any person who is potentially on the fence about Christianity.
