It’s a masterful example of genre filmmaking’s ability to transcend its limitations, leaving a viewer not just frightened, but also changed.
Beginning with a gentle lullaby and ending with a tightly packed wallop, Goodnight Mommy is one viscerally chilling, seriously unsettling horror film.

I had to pause it half way through. now I am writing the review based on that. simply fantastic imagery and filmmaking. A really good movie has the ability to captivate us with images that tap into something deep inside. a place where we are ruled by emotion and instinct. For example, (not really a spoiler) the kids have a fish tank full of giant **** as a pet and the image of it is so incredibly unsettling yet fascinating. these creatures are docile and inoffensive like beatles yet I want to flush them all down a toilet.

If this film were a person, I would date. I got hooked by it. I was surprised by the performances. For sure I will never stop loving this movie. One of the best in the genre, absolutely.

This elegantly nasty little potboiler should satisfy those brave enough to brave it. They might see the big reveal coming, but that won’t help them unsee the horrors leading up to it.
Good movies create their own worlds, and that’s certainly true of Goodnight Mommy — even if it’s a world you wouldn’t want to live in.
An unnerving descent into the extreme, anxious corners of a mother’s relationship to and comprehension of her 9-year-old twin sons – and vice versa – gone weirdly haywire, Goodnight Mommy is required viewing for both lovers of neo-gothic paranoia and mommy-haters everywhere.
Goodnight Mommy is a well-crafted cheat with a killer punch.
Perhaps a more unassuming genre director would have tightened this movie’s cables a little, so that it had more tension and less revulsion. At all events, it delivers some nasty shocks.
A modern classic. A wholly consuming film that is a clever thriller. The cinematography itself is a work of art. This rejuvenates a genre that had become generally **** twins are utilized to startling effect.

Two twin brothers enjoy an idyllic country summer until their mother comes home from cosmetic surgery and nothing seems right. Don't expect scares and shocks. Instead, this film is built on a creepy vibe that creates more concern than suspense. It's a psychological thriller with a twist that was obvious way before its reveal. The 2 boys (real twins) have a wonderful interaction that's continually compelling, but the payoff, although slightly disturbing, lacks punch. In German with subtitles.

I'm sorry this movie is grossly over-rated. I found it to be boring for the first 20-30mins, inexplicable the next 20-30 mins and the last 20-30 mins were graphically horrific and sadistic. There's not much dialogue, music or context here and what could have easily been resolved earlier on in the film is on brought out in the very last moments of the film. I am a fan of this genre, and don't mind gore, but children & gore don't mix well with me. Additionally, movies that give children adult skills -- is too contrived and unbelievable.

(Spoiler Free) Laziest movie I've seen in along time maybe if your a young teen it'll impress you because you don't know any better.... Not only does it give away it's own twist in the first few minutes of the movie. I keeps changing what it wants to be, the movie itself feels **** first half of the movie is slow but interesting... The actors are all great... But if you were expecting a payoff by the end you will be sorely disappointed. The second half is a sharp downturn into POINTLESS torture porn... It's edgy to be edgy with nothing more than desperately trying to "shock" you into remembering this poorly written movie. Try "The eyes of my mother".
