Happy Death Day was definitely an entertaining film to watch. It’s like Groundhog Day mixed with Scream. Although Happy Death Day premiered on Friday October 13th, this movie was more humorous than a thriller. It had a lot of great moments and some of these one liners, knee slappers. The acting was pretty solid with a great lead actress as well as a cute romance that will make your heart flutter. While some may have considered this movie a “dud”, because it wasn’t “exactly like the movies it portrayed” or wasn’t “as good as the originals” I would have to disagree. Yes, this movie played a twist on other movies such as Scream and Groundhog Day, but it was a unique combination and did an excellent job of keeping me on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next, and that ending, AMAZING. I would definitely recommend it.… Expand

I splendid mash-up of Groundhog Day and Heathers (with a knowing nod in the direction of Scream). It's a FUN slasher with some hilarious **** lines between the sorority girls. Really excited to see the sequel.

Just when you thought po-mo slasher movies couldn't possibly have anything interesting to offer anymore... This movie is a breath of fresh air, mainly because instead of spending large ponderous chunks of time setting up a feature-length story, it gets to home in one day and then have funJust when you thought po-mo slasher movies couldn't possibly have anything interesting to offer anymore... This movie is a breath of fresh air, mainly because instead of spending large ponderous chunks of time setting up a feature-length story, it gets to home in one day and then have fun repeating it with a new twist each time. This makes it a breeze to sit through, and it feels as if everyone involved had a blast making it, which really rubs off on the viewer.

Scream meets Groundhog Day. Though a fairly straight-forward and predictable plot, Happy Death Day does start out strong but then turns into a cliché of horror movie tropes, as well teen movie montages. Overall I loved the cast and ideas, but it could have been fleshed out a little bit better.

One of the bummers of this movie is that the "It's your birthday" song from the trailer is not in the movie at all. The birthday ringtone from her father is some other stupid tune. And the film is not nearly as tightly constructed as Groundhog Day. A middle of the road Groundhog Day/Scream combo knockoff. Innocuous and inoffensive. Not very original but funny in parts, more smiles as opposed to laughs. The lead actress is competent. The **** sorority girls are good. The dufus boyfriend is bad. Worth a watch on TV.

Immediately this felt like a straight to tv movie. Poor direction with no charm whatsoever. What this movie lacks in style it also lacks in substance. I found this film disturbingly unwatchable. Simply a waste of time.
