Jesus Revolution is one of my favorite faith-based Christian movies, of which I’ve seen more than my fair share. I associate three things with faith-based films: bad acting, an outrageous, overly positive message, and a shoe-horned sermon. Thankfully, this film avoids all three elements.
It’s one of the most appealing faith-based big-screen entertainments in a while, polished and persuasive without getting too preachy.

its strange watching this history i partially lived through. its like this chapter of american history has been brutally erased. im glad it saw the light of day again. i pray for jesus to give us guidance and comfort in these times.

It’s a generally uplifting account of the hippies and spiritual searchers who turned away from LSD and drug experimenting and turned towards faith, without giving up their tie-dye or VW Microbuses.
Jesus Revolution is more of a wistful wish to bring in a wave of new followers than an effort to understand what they'll need once they’re there.
Jesus Revolution takes a fascinating period of American history – the hippie movement and its associated fallout within the Christian community – and transforms it into a bland, TV movie-of-the-week experience.
There’s something to be said for how Jesus Revolution occasionally evinces a period, albeit not in a very sophisticated manner, when a seemingly unbridgeable societal fissure divided the young and the old people in this country.
Unfortunately, despite the interesting history, the film itself is a dry, scattered slog, neutered of all the thorny, contradictory details of the real story.
O filme começa muito bem e tem boas sacadas sobre a ambientação e expectativa da juventude de 1960, ao menos aquela juventude que não está, ainda, satisfeita com a fórmula "sexo, drogas e rock in roll".
Acredito que o principal mérito do filme é não demonizar o comportamento transgressor, ao contrário, vai dar oportunidade para aqueles jovens (que, obviamente, estão longe de serem retratados de forma realista) se expressarem de forma tão natural, quanto maniqueísta em certos momentos.
É que o diagnóstico do filme é preciso: há uma luta eterna entre tentar se adequar, tentar buscar um propósito de vida. E o filme, acertadamente, mira na angústia. Ocorre que a resolução e superação desse sentimento, passado o terço inicial, se envereda por buscar soluções, e com isso a ideologia cristã vai pesando e diminuindo o impacto. Ou seja, se tivesse seguindo a linha mais crítica e niilista, talvez fosse mais relevante. Ao vender a ideia, o filme se perde, inclusive se estende além da conta, tornando-se chato em certos momentos.
Mas ainda assim é um retrato bem interessante, e ainda é uma história real, e cumpre o propósito de mostrar que a juventude é simplesmente multifacetada, diversa, e mesmo em épocas contemporâneas a Woodstock, há uma multiplicidade de discursos.

Solid film. I'm secular and regardless of some of the themes presented in this movie, it's an uplifting experience in a time of division and brings people together with old ideas with this refreshing entry. Narratively I would put this lower than most since the Kelsey Grammar role gets sidelined for the Hippies' stories which is kinda hit or miss. However, the message is good for folks who wanna feel good regardless of belief's and kinda shows how Good Religion can be for the lost masses.

I really enjoyed the first 45 minutes or so. Very light and fun and interesting. Then it was less enjoyable until the last 15 minutes or so, where it found itself again.
