The been-there, done-that nature of the plot doesn't take away from the undeniable sweetness found in Just Wright.
The reason Just Wright works is simple. It finds ways to let familiar characters move around inside a familiar premise like living, breathing, likable human beings.

Just caught this one on cable - it's a sweet movie. Common is excellent - haven't seen him in anything previously, and Queen Latifa awesome as usual. The god sister plays her role with too little nuance, and the "real" NBA players are fun but can't act. It was good enough to keep this NBA fan watching while the Pacers/Bulls first round game was happening. That says something.

A by-the-books romantic comedy, so much of Just Wright feels bland and cliche. The pacing is really off, and the direction is uninspired. However, the chemistry between Common and Queen Latifa is infectious and charming, even if the script doesn't use these actors full potential.

If you can overlook that last little bit of sports fantasy, you just might like Just Wright.
Telegraphs its every move. There are simply no surprises.
Queen Latifah's warmth has boosted middling movies like "Beauty Shop" and "Last Holiday," but she and costar Common can't strike enough sparks to ignite this weak romantic comedy.
It's light in tone, feather-weight. But there aren't many laughs in it.
Nearly everything about Just Wright is just wrong.

Queen Latifah and rapper turned actor, Common star in the new romantic comedy called "Just Wright".
It's seems to me that Hollywood has suddenly stopped caring about the general public and the money they spend on their movies or maybe they have just simply ran out of ideas for a good, heartfelt romantic comedy. Anyways well save the rant for another time; let's get on to "Just Wright".
