A wildly ambitious and frequently fascinating film that moviegoers of all ages should find both entertaining and provocative in equal measure.
How you feel about Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet, one of the most visually stimulating films of this or any year, depends on 1) how much you love animation and 2) what you think of Kahlil Gibran.

Such a beautiful spiritual movie that differs radically from “12 years or below” animated movies out there (Minions, Frozen, Shaun the sheep movie...). Something that an adult can watch without falling asleep.
Definitely the best animation film of 2015 considering that it had a budget of just 12M $!! (Frozen for example had more than 12x the money at 150M $).

One of the most beautiful animated films in years, with each poem given a separate interpretation by a different master animator. The songs generally didn't work for me, but there is also a melodic soundtrack written and performed by Yo-Yo Ma. The whole thing is tied together by a family friendly story about a poet under house arrest, the woman who cleans the house, and her mischievous daughter.

Gibran’s little life lessons have been turned into three-minute haiku by different animators and spread across the film. Each one soars (especially clay painter Joan Gratz’s color-bursting snippet, “On Work”), even if the plot holding them together is frustratingly Disneyish.
If you are a fan of Gibran’s work, this film is recommended for those sections, just be prepared for some schmaltz to go along with the transcendentalist philosophy.
A consummate sampler platter of the bounty of state-of-the-art animation currently available as alternatives established major-studio house styles.
Paley's segment proves that The Prophet is more of a missed opportunity than an ambitious folly.
A work of words as lovely as “The Prophet” deserves a better artistic interpretation than this animated venture, which consists mostly of pedestrian, ’70s-quality visuals.
Another animated film for 2015 and didn't end up being one of the best, but still works in any way. The Prophet will leave you wanting more and more after watching this one.

Despite an overlong and somewhat overly juvenile opening sequence, the film settles down into a beautifully animated, thoughtful meditation on various aspects of life and where they derive their origins from. Viewers who can make it past the first 15-20 minutes of the film will be rewarded with a gorgeous, inspiring film. Hang in there -- it's ultimately worth the wait.
