Under DaCosta’s sure, steady direction, Little Woods belongs with movies like “Frozen River” (2008), “Winter’s Bone” (2010), “Wind River” (2017), and last year’s “Leave No Trace” — dramas about overlooked communities that ache with empathetic detail. The movie steers clear of polemics, though, and puts its faith in its characters, specifically the exhausted, unbreakable bond of sisterhood that unites these siblings. Read full review

The sisters go on to Adventure in North Dakota and Canada to save their family and I are worried but interrupted by complete ass on men who work the oil fields in North Dakota that are not welcome here… Expand

The story itself is nothing new or fresh but it's effective and certainly emotional. But what I think is a more admirable discovery is that both Tessa Thompson and Lily James reveal and indicate that they have more talent than they have been allowed to explore lately.
