It’s hard to imagine anyone who enjoyed Radner’s performances in their lifetime not finding much to love about Love, Gilda… even as our hearts break a little at what might have been had she lived longer.
To be crystal clear: Comedian and actress Gilda Radner was a genius. Her humor and her life were an impeccable combination of a love of life and precise comic timing. There are beings that light this planet, shining brightly. And Radner shined. It is impossible for me to think of a world without her, and Lisa Dapolito’s documentary goes above and beyond in marking this person’s life.

Love, Gilda is really captured everything very very well, from happy to sad, added again with Radner real voice through the film really really makes Love, Gilda heartwarming yet heartbreaking too, it makes you smile, it makes you happy, it makes you sad, it makes you cry, life was ****, she's gone too soon but it's the best for her.

It seems a lot of woman comedians today don't know just quite what a wonder Gilda Radner was, especially given the role of women in comedy today. Love, Gilda provides a loving look at the life of Radner, with insight from her friends and family and even her personal journals.

The result, like much of Radner’s comedy, is entertaining, appealing, and more soft-centered than challenging or acerbic.
At its best, Love, Gilda intertwines the comic’s own narration — drawn from audiotapes, interviews and journals — with reflections from her current-day admirers.
Love, Gilda is plain but beautifully crafted. It draws you close to Radner, presenting her rise through the world of ’70s comedy as a journey of discovery.
Love, Gilda reveals this but does not probe it. With various soft and admiring interviews, it relies mainly on Radner’s own words to hint at how dark things got.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry. You’ll leave still loving Gilda. The movie, not so much.
A loving tribute to an immense talent -- and one who broke through many personal and professional barriers -- who became a huge sensation and who, unfortunately, left us all too soon. With interviews featuring many of her collaborators, a wealth of archive footage and excerpts from her own journals, Gilda Radner comes to life once again, entertaining both those who knew her work and others who are just now discovering it. An account of her story is long overdue, but it was well worth the wait.

Gilda Radner was the first female cast on Saturday Night Live, where she created some classic characters and cemented her place in comedy history. Luckily, her life was captured on film from an early age, so this doc had plenty of wonderful footage that continues thru her life and career. There are interviews with close friends and several more recent members of the SNL cast reading her writings (as well as audio commentary from her own **** only complaint is that the filmmakers assume you know her work, because the excerpts are very short. Anyone who's not familiar won't be able to appreciate her talent. An extremely loving tribute. NOTE: Stay thru the credit for one last batch of her wit.
