Delivering the male-entertainment goods while radiating a newfound degree of tender romanticism, it’s a fairy-tale coda that’s at once sensual, lyrical, and liberating.
The movie’s casting montage may feel stilted and long, but it’s easy to imagine Tatum’s actual thrill at assembling the best dancers from around the world. When they stop talking and start dancing, that’s when the real magic happens.
I'm at a crossroads with this movie. I love the fact that dance can say so much. The dancers are really amazing. The rain dance, which is what it really should be called, is incredible. The female dancer is astonishing! It's truly amazing how minute movements can say so much. Can change what someone is like. The smallest things can make such a massive difference.
So it's a fun film to watch for the dancing despite the story not being that interesting or even closer to being believable. Well, maybe it does happen but no one's going to pick me to pull me out of the poverty I'm in. :-)
Rather than the gritty drama of the first film or the delightful fantasy of the second, we instead get a dull romance with paper-thin characters, lame voice-over narration, and rather clean and puritan dance numbers, resulting in a film that feels more like an advertisement for the "Magic Mike Live" show than a movie.
Why Magic Mike’s Last Dance chooses to teach viewers about love, consent, and having it all, then, is a mystery. The Galentine’s Day crowd will probably be too drunk to notice.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance may not be as dirty a delight as the male stripper series’ first two movies. It has other pleasures, though, especially for fans of screwball comedy, musicals and — yikes — serious dance.
A misguided screwball narrative sacrifices the performances of talented men for clumsy, baggy rom-com tropes. Bring back Pony and all of Mike’s men – or just release a live DVD of London’s best night out instead.
Very weird movie, ditches the grimy strip club aesthetic for a romantic theater production setting. There is really no plot or arc for Mike in this, and while the performances and dance sequences are good enough there is really just nothing here to latch onto.
is one of the best albums of 2020. Both an album with production that seems simple, but when you go deeper it overwhelms you and brings cohesion and harmony between all the musical elements.
This movie is so boring, I'm sorry. Like, while I could understand the fans behind the first and second movies, this one is so slow and I don't care about any of the characters and it just feels super lifeless in comparison to the previous films. I watched this with somebody and I literally nearly fell asleep during the movie- no other movie from this year have managed to nearly do this. Especially while having an ACTIVE CONVERSATION!
