May not have the most sophisticated narrative, but it is one of the most spectacular and masterly demonstrations of animation in screen history.

One of the Most Underappreciated animated features and Secretly one of the Greatest films that are Ahead of its Time, Filled with Imagination and the Sense of Wonder, accompanied with the Great Music of the late classical jazz composer Toshiyuki Honda, and the Conveying Characters of the story delivering down-to-heart voice performances, every big frame of the cities and visuals are groundbreaking, and at the same time tries to capture the past, simply a blend of Past present, and the Future.
I had a real blast watching this film, just as amazing as Fritz Lang tried to capture accurately the future in 1920s.

This is no Disney fable and the apocalyptic vision isn't for everyone, but science-fiction fans and adventurous filmgoers will find this ingenious explosion of retro-cyberpunk a compelling dystopian vision with a gleam of hope.
This muscular anime melodrama is so visually splendid that on that level alone it qualifies as a breakthrough.
Here is a film of staggering technical and visual virtuosity, filled with utterly amazing images, that's also entertaining and engaging for children and adults on several levels.
A hallucinatory tour de force of color, perspective and scale, virtually encapsulates the history of Japanese animation.
The dialogue is dubbed into English by generic actors, whose phony, emotionless rendition undermines what's on the screen.
Metropolis es una oda al cine antiguo con un simbolismo con mucho que decir pero con un montaje que no presta la atención a los temas que busca tratar pero con un mimo audio visual de infarto y un arte con carácter único y muy personal pero con un tema que no llega a las expectativas de lo que Rintaro,Metropolis y el gran artista Osamu Tezuka nos hacían pensar y siendo este la columna vertebral de una historia no es como si lo pudiese obviar y acabar con una buena nota
