A picture of life shaped in such a fun and brilliant way, creating an adventure with a nostalgic taste, tasty to watch, and beautiful to contemplate.

After watching The boy and the beast and Wolf Children, I was expecting something just as good, but the truth was far more different.

I didn't hate Mirai but I was very bored by the repetitive plot and long and sometimes cringy scenes, there's a lot of beauty to be seen such as the animation or character design but the characters don't quite match that height.

If only the movie were like the last 15 minutes which are very good...

Superb animation, if you enjoy the Studio Ghibli style. Opening a juice packet, moving red and white striped shirt, makes me shudder in empathy with the animators. Many more examples. The title is misleading. Better would be Kun and the Family Tree. This is an inspired premise: apply Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" to a four year old boy, naturally jealous when all the attention goes off him to his newborn baby sister. The transition from generic middle class Japanese family minutiae to "Enter the Spider-verse" CGI effects is done gently and naturally, a masterpiece of threshold moments and of how to arrange a gradual transition while keeping the audience involved. Also remarkable is how annoying Kun, the main character four year old is while still remaining engaging and a character the audience cares for. This is a master class in writing believable 3D characters, not often seen in movies, even less so in animation. Daniel Dae Kim and the girl acting Kun really bring a lot of life to their characters Expand

Mirai has its heart at the right place and I was gobsmacked to follow the proceedings, also managing to avoid a teary eye towards the end. TN.

In that sens it's a relaxing movie. I give it a 78%. It a well made story that is told in an elaborate and subtle way. Expand

For starters, the main character of this film is a very bratty 4-year-old. The child can be extremely irritating to watch to the point of being unlikeable. It's worsen when everyone else is so nice and likeable, including the new baby sister.

However, that is the intention of the film. The whole focus of Mirai is seeing this bratty kid learn important life lessons and growing into a more capable individual and a better brother for the new sister. Fantasy elements such as seeing an anthropomorphic dog or a middle school age version of his sister are there to give him these lessons in more interesting ways. This leads to some amazing visuals and animation with some stellar sequences. Additionally, the music is great and elevates the scenes.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. It's not a movie with high-end stakes but it is a meaningful story that has a wonderful ending. I highly recommend giving Mirai a watch because it has a very beautiful message.

I enjoyed the use and timing of piano music to accompany the main character rushing around at times. The colours used in the animation are quite light and cheery - it has a dreamy feel to it, which is common when it comes to anime films. The plot is one that I imagine the vast majority of children with siblings would be able to relate to, which is good. I also particularly liked the scenes towards the end, which feature decent integration between what appeared to be 2D and 3D/CGI animation. I certainly enjoyed this film and I would recommend it to others. Expand

Ślicznie wykonane anime ze standardową historią o odpowiedzialności i akceptacji w rodzinie. Fajnie przedstawienie codziennego życia oraz połączenie świata fantastycznego też spoko wypada
