How you feel about Morbius will probably depend on how much you have invested in the Sony-Marvel pie slice, and on your feelings about Leto, who perhaps isn’t so much a serious actor as one who takes himself very seriously. Still, his performance here has a quietly vibrating vulnerability; he seems to have made at least a small emotional investment in this film, as if to keep it from sliding into total special-effects-laden soullessness. In “Morbius” the actor’s willful disinterest in figuring out the rhythm of a scene, what’s important in it and how to bounce off his scene partners — well, it’s acting in a vacuum. What he needs is a director who can steer him away from his favorite scene partner, i.e., Jared Leto, long enough to activate the material at hand, even if it’s just a third-tier Marvel franchise hopeful. You think it’s funny to make fun out of morbius, huh? Laughing at somebody’s passion is a joke to you, I’ll have you know that the critics don’t lie. It’s cinema. Even if you don’t agree. It changed film forever. You are mad you don’t understand art like I do!

the morbius movie is a movie of all time, jared leto playing morbius was the best thing i have ever seen. i sat in the theater with my morbius branded popcorn and my morbius branded drink, and as soon as the title was shown, i simuteniouly shat, pissed and came in my trousers. Entertaining addition to the Sony Spider-verse. Don't listen to the critics. This movie is a decent tribute to a cherished character. Much better than Venom2! Leto is charismatic and dark. Lucian is a great believable antagonist. Solid 7

The same happened for Venom and Venom 2, there is no proper development of the characters, the story is bland and boring, and way too much CGI and poorly used (I guess for budget reasons). Even if I didn’t pay to see this, I would’ve still felt ripped off. This cinematic disaster is most definitely the worst movie I’ve seen all year, let alone the worst comic book film. I would not recommend watching this unless if you’re looking for torture methods, but it’s the kind of film you really need to see for yourself to recognize how truly awful it is. Performances are flat and lifeless, the action is messy and muddled, and the writing is the worst I’ve seen in a long time. Events happen out of nowhere, with little to no context. It feels like chunks of this movie are missing. This could be due to a shorter than usual runtime, sloppy editing, or a combination of the two. Sony, stop with these villain/anti-hero movies. I suppose a terrible box office performance could signal the beginning of the end, but we already know of 3 more villain/anti-hero movies in the works and one can only hope they are better than this. The cinematic atrocity, also known as Morbius. Is worse than Suicide Squad(2016). I suppose the only positive takeaway was the meme culture inspired by this film.… Expand
