A wholesome, headlong extravaganza - a sort of North by Northeast sans high style and erotic innuendo.
An undeniable pleasure of National Treasure was watching a movie shot locally that wasn't haunted by a virus or by dead people.

Coming from writers responsible for such material as "Snow Dogs" and "The 6th Day," National Treasure is not so much a no-brainer as a brain-stunner, so audaciously ridiculous you are initially intrigued, then soon irritated by its incoherence.
It has no ambition, little sense and false sentiment, but it does have velocity, high spirits and scale.
For his fourth paycheck-cashing run through “J-Bruck’s” action-hero gauntlet, Cage lazily plays Benjamin Franklin Gates-the first of many overstuffed social-studies references.
It lacks the conviction to embrace its own garish awfulness, resulting in little more than tedious historical and patriotic hokum, a preposterous potboiler done in by slack pacing and pedestrian execution.
Isn't any fun at all, which is ultimately the most damning thing you can say about a Bruckheimer movie.
National Treasure is the ultimate adventure movie. There are lots of hilarious scenes with hilarious dialogue, and the suspenseful ending balances it out. I love the historical connections---History is my best class, I always get an A--- although the facts are somewhat stretched, it turns out to be a great mystery. Nicholas Cage is brilliant as Ben and Diane Kruger is a great choice for her supporting role, I loved the chemistry between Ben and Abigail!
Also whoever wrote the score is a musical genius!

Im shocked at the critics review of this movie. I specifically joined to put my 2cents against them. One of my all time favourites. National Treasure has had a lasting affect on me. I've never met anyone who didn't like it. If you're into a mission impossible style movie this is a must watch. It has action adventure comedy romance and a happy ending, what else could you want in a feel good movie! It had fantastic twists all throughout, in particular the end. Its not the pianist or shindlers list- not all movies are like this nor would we want them all to be.

National Treasure is a typical adventure film. There is a good cast, a good plot tie and a delusional plot. National Treasure has interesting action scenes, but most of them are not impressive. And this is the most important thing in adventure films. Only fans of the genre or fans of Nicolas Cage can be advised to watch.

I love Nicholas Cage in this movie, it's a very clever and fun movie and I'd even say it's an interesting movie for the most part but the biggest negative I've got with this movie would have to be the plot. The plot for the movie had me so muddled to what was happening with the characters at most points but it was a fun movie for the most part.

It's not that National Treasure is awful but it isn't good also, it has a lot of cliches but is so entertaining to see Nicolas Cage and Sean Bean do things that even when they're in a long exposition scene you're still entertained. I don't recommend it unless you don't have anything to watch or you're stuck in an airplane or something, otherwise, you can pass over it.
