While part of the film offers the expected, unsparingly violent action tropes typical of the series, there’s another aspect to the story, a surprisingly brooding examination of a warrior in winter, a dark story of a berserker who can’t let go, that’s in its own way bleaker and more despairing than we may be expecting. The sequence is Last Blood’s pièce de résistance, and perhaps the only compelling reason the movie has to exist. But it’s also pure, relentless, grimacing punishment at the end of a joyless film, choreographed like a ritual sacrifice. What’s especially pitiful about this installment, which has been given a perfunctory dark-action look by cinematographer Brendan Galvin (“Self/less”), is how often Stallone tries to give psychic heft to the wounded-warrior part of his creation, as if he were Ethan Edwards in “The Searchers” and not just a monosyllabic killing machine easily triggered. This movie was made for Rambo fans. It delivers what they would want. This is not a straight to video like Escape Plan 2. Surprisingly solid production values.

Expected something not that good by ratings, but I think they are quite unfair from critics and movie was quite good actually. Yes some parts were either unnecessary there or too classic to such type of movies (that bad guys randomly didn't kill him), but it was still ok movie since Rambo is more about action anyway… Expand

My vote for 1 of the top 10 worst films of the year. Stallone could have done must better than this . Unbelievable plot, somewhat racist, overly violent (but, hey, it is a Rambo film), and poorly scripted, photographed, and edited.
