When it comes to special effects, the filmmakers have spared no expense. But when it comes to the story, audiences have been shortchanged.
Moss -- in her first big role since "The Matrix" -- is the main reason to see Red Planet, a badly written and visually scenic space opus.
Isn't as bad as the year's first abysmal Martian movie, "Mission to Mars," but it's pretty close.
Crash-lands as disastrously as the heroes and never quite recovers its wits.
There still is no life on Mars. Red Planet is airless.

Predictable yet entertaining despite a few factual errors, ropey CGI and missteps, not as stupid and clichéd as you might have heard. Some nice design elements and an excellent soundtrack by Graeme Revell! Features numerous tropes popular in films of its kind; mission goes t*ts up 20 minutes in? Check. Noble sacrifice? Check. Could have been better, but decent fare for what it is.

Red Planet classic Sci-Fi film of the early 2000s. The plot is banal and simple, the graphics are not impressive, the ship is naturally always artificial gravity. All actions are ordinary (!), People do not astranauts make it easier than simple, although at the beginning of the film it is said that this is the first expedition to Mars. But further ignoring banal conventions only continues. And you watch this film more by inertia, not expecting anything from it. This is a bad Sci-Fi, an even worse action movie, and certainly not a thriller. It's better to watch another Sci-Fi, a 2000 film with a budget of $80 million should be ashamed of such a schedule.

Thanks to Red Planet's awful boredom and notably sorry characters, it's nice visuals, talented cast and the interesting plot don't feel anything new to the audience.
