As we go deeper into the cave, walls squeezing, water rising, the movie has a narrative pull as sure as gravity.
Once the real story hits its stride, it's easy to get lost in Sanctum.

This movie isn't a 10 - I'm only giving it that to balance the score because people are hating on this movie for no reason. The acting is kinda cheesy at the beginning but it gets better once the action startes. The 3D is veryy well done and there are some very tense sequences. It's a 7 / 10 for me.

Leí algunas críticas destructivas antes de ver la película, sin embargo considero que están bastante erradas. La historia no está tan bien tejida y suele ser exagerada, sinembargo a nivel de aventura es muy entretenida, te produce mucha tensión y creo que desenmascara muchos instintos que tenemos de supervivencia y el egoísmo en el Ser Humano.

The bigger problem with the film, which is genuinely unnerving at times, is what happens when the cavers are not in immediate peril, because they talk.
A muscular Australian B-movie down to the thin characters and boilerplate dialogue.
Whatever his faults as a filmmaker may be, Cameron would never make an adventure flick that felt this bland and generic.
The director Alister Grierson, not grasping that bad dialogue is sometimes best delivered quietly, encourages his actors to shout and thrash about, and so they do, like fish out of water and performers out of their depth.
Those audiences who have complained about the clunky exposition and mawkish emotional dialogue in Cameron's films will discover the "King of the World"'s own dramatic talents to be on par with the Bard in comparison to the shouty, over-emoted hokum on display here.
Awesome show... If you like outdoors or rock climbing you will love it. Thought the movie was way intense. Only problem is that the "true story" part is pretty far fetched.

Buenos efectos 3D, buena fotografía y puesta en escena, historia floja y sosa, actuaciones y personajes sin pena ni gloria, medianamente entretenida. Vale la pena destacar lo bien que se ve considerando que es una en formato 3D que costó solamente 30 Millones de Dólares, presupuesto bajo para una película de este tipo.

A group of people go on an exploration of the biggest cave system in the world and have two days to get out before the area floods. Many people die, leaving only four left. The film is cheesy and the as we go deeper into the cave, every area is dull, looking exactly the same and lavished with unnecessary CGI, something I am not a fan of as a film buff. However, scenes that involve the spectacular 3-D effects make this one of the only reasons to see this movie. In sum, good 3d, mediocre film.

Films like these absolutely MUST present you with characters that you make an emotional investment in. Otherwise, as they start dying off one-by-one, you end up shrugging and checking your watch rather than feeling their terror. See The Abyss for an example of how this is done correctly. The entire cast of Sanctum is so brainless and unlikeable that the entire heart of the film is DOA. It's annoying when the amateurs are still questioning and rebelling against the one guy who knows what he's doing 3/4 of the way through the film when he's been completely right all along. Ugh.
