Inconsistencies and issues aside, Shazam 2 hits the comic book movie sweet spot. The performances are strong, the humor lands, and the stakes feel high with comic book panache and the kinds of visuals one only gets in a comic book (business-destroying minotaurs, anyone?).
When Shazam! Fury of the Gods tries to look like a big blockbuster action movie it comes across as perfunctory and soulless. The fury signifies nothing. The heart is where this movie’s home is.
Just a great as the first. Though the Darla pair. Both young and older about stole the movie. Perfect casting on the studios part. Nothing groundbreaking in this installment. But good and enjoyable. Good mix of funny and action. After the first movie. I came out of this one not feeling I missed out. If you did t like. Give it a second chance. Maybe your view will change. It does for me most of the time.
Directed by David F. Sandberg from a script by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, “Fury of the Gods” makes no pretense of being anything but a comic free-for-all.
There is potential within the Shazam! films that have never quite been met. Especially with this latest installment, this often feels like DC’s attempt at having a Spider-Man-esque character in their roster, and if you squint, you can almost see that possibility.
This movie was delightful, epic and humorous. Zachary Levi did a tremendous job bring the Shazam we all know and love to life in such a fun and authentic way.
It has everything- action, adventure, mythical creatures and lightly forbidden love. What more could you ask for?!
It has of course something interesting to it as all the superhero movies there is action and such things, but overall it is not that memorable and basically feels like more of a movie for kids - not that it is bad sometimes, but this feels a bit too childish at times.
O bogowie. Pomysły miejscami dobre ale ich wykonanie niestety już niezbyt. Ktoś nie wiedział o czym zrobić kolejnego Shazama więc dali wszystko i nic zarazem
There is just nothing to hold on to here. It's not like there is any one aspect of the movie that is horrible, but every part is forgettable. Probably an okay rental, but keep your phone handy
I actually enjoyed the first SHAZAM movie- I thought, at the time especially, it was a pleasant surprise. And while it has fallen in my rankings over the years for this franchise specifically, I still would call it a solid good time. SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods however is almost entirely made up of the first film's less favorable aspects. Zachary Levi gives a truly bad performance as the titular hero. While Asher Angel's giving it his best as Billy Batson himself, Levi doesn't even bother to play anything except himself, leaving this massive disconnect between this complicated teenager and this raving manchild throwing his weight around like a rookie wrestler. The villains **** too. I mean, I'd far from describe it as total garbage, but its very forgettable, dull nothingness. Its every other superhero movie that has or ever will exist. The writing is on the wall and it looks scribbled by a fourth grader. More than anything, this film's grand, notable positive is that its too simple and underwhelming to be truly offensive, too generic to stick with me, and not bad ENOUGH to even be worth complaining about; nothing about it has enough of anything to upset me so much as just make me wonder if I should have just watched something else.
