This is likely the fastest-moving intentionally funny action movie ever made. It's as if the 21 Bond movies and four "Die Hards" had been distilled to remove their body fat (that is, character development, buildup, rest stops, etc.) and left us with only the killing and the punch lines.
For sheer audacity and adrenaline-fueled carnage, Shoot 'Em Up hits its target pretty much dead on.

They don't make films like this anymore. While it was never destined to win any Oscars it is a film that knows what it is and what fans of the genre want. If you want a tongue in cheek action movie with an amazing soundtrack, you have come to the right place. Absolute classic. Amazing choreography and all things considered, great acting. Must see.

The presence of the two actors and the film's mordant sense of humor buoy the downtime between bloodbaths and genre fans may find enough to love here.
The saving grace in an exuberantly graceless movie is Clive Owen. This actor is bulletproof. Even in a sick-joke jamboree like Shoot 'Em Up, he mows down the competition and gets his laughs without losing his composure.
Violent thrills and massive blood spills are the essence of the absurdly over-the-top action flick that is Shoot 'Em Up.
Shoot 'Em Up is not only the title of Hollywood's latest descent into nonsensical mayhem but pretty much sums up the entire inane plot as well.

An excessive, sparsely entertaining romp through the usual action movie tropes and cliches, offering up an occasional wink and nod to let you know that it's aware of its own silliness. Though, I never thought the style completely suited the idiocy of the events as depicted. In something like, say, "Hardcore Henry," there's already this heightened element to the presentation that ultimately pairs with the ridiculous narrative. With "Shoot 'Em Up," you're given a mostly plain, drab looking aesthetic, with your slow-mo shots here, your shoddy CGI there, and a bevy of muted performances (aside from the always vibrant Paul Giamatti, of course). Overall, I wasn't that impressed by it, but I suppose the strikingly slim runtime did cushion the blow a tad.

It looked pretty good. Nothing too exciting or noticeable. It was quite violent with blood and carrots flying around everywhere. I didn't like the mix at all. Dialogue was badly prioritised and I was either struggling to hear what they were saying or being deafened by gunfire. It was too dynamic even for a shooting movie. Such a stupid story. It was truly unbelievable. It was too much! It wasn't like Crank (2006) which was good because it's story was so bad, it was more serious in the way it was shot but it was stupid in the story. I suppose that it was a bad cross between Léon (1994) and Crank (2006). It was really stupid and all the gun-play got boring very quickly. Not worth spending time with.

Whoa, I can buy a lot of things, aliens coming to earth and blowing up the white house? You betcha. 300 guys standing against thousands all while wearing nothing more than a loin cloth? sure! Hundreds of troops hiding in a giant wooden horse and then defeating the Trojans? okay. Eddy Murphy being able to talk to animals? why not. Sarah Jessica Parker being sexy? That's a bit of a stretch. But I can not for one second believe you can kill people with a carrot, that's just something I can not buy. I also can not but that they make baby sized bullet proof vests, in camo no less and I can't get behind shooting an umbilical cord off. And most off all you can not be shot at by hundreds of people and only get winged once in the shoulder. There was just too much suspension of disbelief for me in this film. There were some positive aspects to the movie, the acting was good, the action scenes were great and the plot was kinda fun. But the crazy deaths and outlandish scenarios were just too much to overcome. And seriously what the hell was up with the carrots, like a crazy fetish or something. He had more carrots just stashed on his body then should be aloud by law, it's just weird
