Nothing wrong with movie per se in terms of scares and premise. Just pretty cliche and with the filming done mostly in dark scenes it is difficult to watch/see the action as anything more than tryhard. It has its moments, but Slender Man is ultimately a dull affair.

What is really disappointing is that the first ten minutes or so are pretty good. We are introduced to the four main characters. (One of the positive points of Slender Man isIt has its moments, but Slender Man is ultimately a dull affair.

What is really disappointing is that the first ten minutes or so are pretty good. We are introduced to the four main characters. (One of the positive points of Slender Man is its actors.) The dialogue and pacing is pretty good, but then things just fall apart. There are a lot of dull scenes of the characters talking, arguing, and investigating without much interaction with anyone else. It doesn't help that the rules to Slender Man are vague and confusing throughout, and the exposition is delivered haphazardly. The ending in particular is a muddled mess.

To its credit, the actual scares in this are pretty good. They do manage to capture what makes the Slender Man so scary in the first place. There are some really impactful visuals. The director is an artist when it comes to spooky forests and having Slender Man fading in and out of the background. (Although on the other hand, there is an annoyingly large amount of close-ups.)

As spooky and nice looking as this movie can be, the good bits are just too few and far apart. I can't recommend this.… Expand

5.7/10 Honestly people are being way too harsh to this film calling it the 'worst horror they'd ever seen", and just being completely extreme and vague in their "criticism" without actual legitimate explanations why they hated it. While it definitely isn't a good film overall, it's about the best portrayal you could expect from an internet horror concept which is essentially a very creepy tall faceless figure that takes children and is seen in old pictures that have been clearly photoshopped. The concept is creepy but really has no complexity or depth. This film at least delivers that same ominously bizarre atmosphere with sparing shots of Slenderman with the simple plotting and overall themes. You cant really expect a plot that goes anywhere with that simple subject matter. The film does drag on in between the creepy scenes with the annoying actresses brooding on in their personal terrors. Another huge problem is that Slenderman shows up maybe a total 2 min of the entire film combined, and the scares are very cliche and standard when he's sparingly featured. There is one sequence in the library that is done properly and has a considerable amount of decent scare ambition. The sound design and effects were firing on all cylinders throughout the film and created some very good sonic tension at times. There was also a considerably solid amount of solid camerawork throughout. Before you know it the film is over and the finale is ok at best but very abrupt. This film is the epitome of middle of the road cliche horror with some decent ambition at times, and is in no way deserving of such an embarrassing low rating.… Expand

Don't expect a great horror-movie, but it isn't that bad as some are saying here. Some scenes are well made, but the movie falls short with the plot.

If you are a horror fan, you should probably see this film. It is not very good, but it is interesting to talk about what went wrong with other fans later. The worst thing about it is the script. Things happen that are vaguely connected, but nothing actually “develops” like a movie plot should. The cinematography, especially out in the woods, is interesting, but the rest of the locations are pedestrian – and there are probably too many closeups. On the other hand, I have seen the four lead actresses in “indie” films, and they are all very good and interesting to watch. Everyone else is forgettable. Finally, the “slender man” is not very scary, information about him is garbled and confusing (the fault of the script again), and he should never have had any closeups because he was obviously a guy in a costume – and not a very interesting costume either.… Expand

Slender Man is enjoyable what it was going for this movie is about these teenagers watch a video on the internet and they get infected my slender man by the video which Is goofy so each of their friends starts to disappear in this movie which can make since but the thing I don't like you don't really care for the characters which suck I am a big fan of the slender man of my fav horror characters to see this movie fail sucks I really hoped for a slender man movie that is great sadly did not happen what is dum about this movie there is a cliff hanger why the hell you will make a movie of slender man make a cliff hanger just why I feel like this was box office movie to just making money not to make an interesting movie So disappointing but I do enjoy what they tried to do sadly was not good So I give Slender Man An D+… Expand

Some good visuals with little else. There is an idea here mixed with a lot of poor acting and pointless story telling.
