Supernova, despite a title that suggests a bright and glorious burst of energy, is a ponderous movie, a story about the end of life so determined to be taken gravely that it doesn’t let anything actually live. It’s abstractly tragic, about a vague idea of something rather than anything or anyone specific. Dementia is scary and sad. That’s about as particular as Supernova gets. Read full review

An elegant and sober drama about illness, relationship, love, acceptance, letting go, and saying goodbye.

Perhaps it doesn't expose so much, nor does it propose much in terms of everything that a drama of this kind entails, but it's also appreciated that it's not a merciless whirlwind of tears and pain.

I mean, the situation the protagonists face is really painful, but that doesn't imply that the same situation should become a miserable affair, like many other films tend to do in order to emotionally manipulate their viewers.

Very good performances by its two leads, although I think they will be left out of any mention in the next awards season.… Expand
