This grounded, frequently brutal and nearly three-hour film noir registers among the best of the genre, even if — or more aptly, because — what makes the film so great is its willingness to dismantle and interrogate the very concept of superheroes.
This is the most beautiful Batman movie you’ve ever seen—even if it’s not really a Batman movie at all.

Il film presenta sequenze di azione ben bilanciate all' interno del prodotto finale.
A parer mio nel film vediamo una Batmobile tanto semplice quanto bellissima, nonostante appaia solo per pochi minuti.

Director Matt Reeves and star Robert Pattinson see the Caped Crusader as more film-noir detective than comic-book hero in their mesmerizing mindbender that aims high even when it misses the mark. It’s a grenade of pure cinema ready to blow.
There’s real filmmaking here in The Batman. Matt Reeves, the director and co-writer, has a serious interest in the tantalizing Batman/Catwoman dynamic. His script, in collaboration with co-writer Peter Craig, parcels out the action sequences carefully, and when they arrive, they’re both visually lucid and excitingly reckless.
Reeves’ and Pattinson’s vision of the Batman as a Hamlet-like heir unable to move past the primal shock of his parents’ murder has a certain emotional power.
It’s a movie of alternately promising and frustrating half-measures, in which Reeves’ shrewd storytelling instincts and the usual franchise-filmmaking imperatives repeatedly fight to a draw.
Nothing that works here adds up to anything worth a long slog in a movie theater, watching Pattinson punching guys and knocking guns out of their hands. From start to finish, The Batman is mostly just a collection of bad ideas.
As a lifelong fan of The Batman tales, and having met its creator, Bob Kane, this film is closest to the original concept and superbly executed by everyone involved. The direction is spot on, the gothic art direction and cinematography are without compare, and the entire cast is highly believable as damaged, struggling outsiders who are compelled to uncover the truth about the power struggle that is destroying their city.

Really slightly overrated movie that is actually only slightly better than mediocre as it completely fails to believably characterize the characters. Starting from the villain, the way he is temperamentally made is pitiful and the costume is hideous, he looks like a man in a garbage bag. The characterization of Batman then is practically non-existent and reduced to a figure that is almost always silent and lacks any kind of charisma. But the film is still watchable as it contains some good action scenes and good moments, plus an honorable mention must be made to the character of Selina who is the only one characterized by a minimum.

Watched the movie about three times now, it feels very long and although it is a very beautiful, yet grungy looking film, it's not as entertaining as simply listening to the soundtrack. There are fan edits of this movie that are better and improve the focus of the story whilst relieving pacing issues.

Acting wasn't good. Lame villain. Decent soundtrack. Awful story. Needs at least 90 minutes edited out of it. Basically your typical DC Comic movie.

Way too long, desperately needed to be cut down to an appropriate size. Horrible casting and second hand embarrassing dialogue. Riddler is only the Riddler in name. Riddler became Redditor. Needed at least 45 minutes of the film to be cut out to become watchable. Heavy revision to the movie is required.
